The FREE Edit Graphics Extension

The Edit Graphics Extension is a free Extension in CET Designer. It is found under “Other” in the Extension Manager.

❯ Edit Graphics lets you create special objects in CET Designer by manipulating standard symbols found in smart manufacturer Extensions and in ProjectSymbols.

❯ Frequently used commands in Edit Graphics let you stretch and shrink objects (e.g., stretch a desk), delete elements of the symbol (e.g., delete a door front) or copy an element from one object and paste to another (e.g., copy a drawer pull). You can even replace the graphics of an object by copying the properties of an AutoCAD or SketchUp™ symbol.

❯ The Edit Graphics Extension will help you to create complete and accurate quotes and renderings for full project specification.

❯ After downloading and installing the Edit Graphics Extension, you will see there are two tabs for this Extension on your Component Tab list. The tabs’ icons (see images) are identical, but the first one is for Edit Graphics (Symbols), which allows mani-pulation of an entire symbol. The second icon is Edit Graphics (Meshes), which allows edits to individual “meshes” or elements of a component (e.g., a drawer pull, drawer or caster).

Tami Shulsen, Design Director, Midwest Commercial Interiors

Tami Shulsen has been with Steelcase dealer Mid-west Commercial Interiors in Salt Lake City, Utah, since 1997. She started out using FSL Symbols in Microstation; the design team at Midwest then made the leap to CAP in AutoCAD. Since January 2011, the dealership has been using CET Designer.

“I cannot say enough good things about CET Desig-ner,” Tami said. “It has not only changed the way we approach business, but also, with the renderings we do now, is a great creative outlet for me.”

Tami received second place in the 2011 Best of CET Designer Awards Program, Rendering Category. She originally created this month’s featured rendering for owners of a building seeking to sell the facility for commercial space. The facility is currently a night club, and prospective buyers had a hard time seeing beyond the black painted walls, floors and disco ball.

“CET Designer helped them to envision what the space could look like as an office space,” Tami said.

Living in Salt Lake City suits Tami. “I’m a mountain girl at heart but still love the big city. Salt Lake City allows me to enjoy both hiking and skiing, but I also can enjoy the opera and good restaurants,” she said.

Scott Huffman, Application Consultant and Project Manager, Configura

“I love working at Configura because we have a goal of truly solving problems in the sales and order process,” says Configura Application Con-sultant and Project Manager Scott Huffman. “We pursue excellence and innovation while still coming to the office in a t-shirt and jeans.”

Scott has worked for Configura since 2006 when it opened an office in Grand Rapids, Mich. He deve-lops Extension software for various manufacturer clients and has been managing a project of his own for a little more than a year now.

He graduated with a computer science degree just before starting at Con-figura. During school, he worked in the architecture and engineering industries as a CAD technician.

Scott and his wife Nicole have a 3-year-old biologi-cal son Grant and a 1-year-

old daughter Nyah whom they traveled to Ethiopia to adopt. Scott enjoys hunting, fishing, camping, bicycling and other outdoor activities.
