Historians and (In)jus ce: from Nuremberg to The Hague
This event is part of the conference ‘Confron ng Violent Pasts and Historical (In)Jus ce’ which the NIOD is organizing in coopera on with Columbia University on 1, 2 and 3 December. About the speakers Vladimir Petrovic is a senior researcher at the Ins tute for Contemporary History in Belgrade and a visi ng professor at the Central European University, Budapest. He was a postdoctoral researcher at NIOD Ins tute for War, Holocaust and Genocide Studies, where he researched the intersec on of history and law in the prac ce of historical expert witnessing as part of the NIOD research programme on Transi onal Jus ce. Alexa S ller is a historian and lecturer in the Department of Modern and Contemporary History, University of Bern, Switzerland. Her research interests are the history of Nazi Germany, the history of forced migra on in the twen eth century, violence and genocide, and the history of war crimes trials. Thijs Bouwknegt is a researcher at the NIOD Ins tute for War, Holocaust, and Genocide Studies and lecturer in Genocide Studies at the University of Amsterdam (UvA). He is a historian, jurist and former jour‐nalist specialised in African Affairs, War Crimes Trials, Transi onal Jus ce and Mass Violence. Predrag Dojčinović has been working in the research sec on of the Office of the Prosecutor (OTP) at the Interna onal Criminal Tribunal for the Former Yugoslavia (ICTY) since 1998. He has authored numerous ar cles and has edited several volumes on the social and legal aspects of the 1991‐1999 series of armed conflicts in the former Yugoslavia, including Propaganda, War Crimes Trials and Interna onal Law: From Speakers Corner to War Crimes (Routledge 2012). Dojčinović is Adjunct Professor at the University of Con‐nec cut.

Professor William A. Schabas is professor of interna onal law at Middlesex University in London, professor of interna onal human law and human rights at Leiden University, emeritus professor of human rights law at the Na onal University of Ireland Galway and honorary chairman of the Irish Centre for Human Rights, invited visi ng scholar at the Paris School of Interna onal Affairs (Sciences Poli ques), honorary professor at the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences in Beijing, visi ng fellow of Kellogg College of the University of Oxford, visi ng fellow of Northumbria University, and professeur associé at the Univer‐sité du Québec à Montréal.
