ST. PETER’S

Father Antony

QUEEN OF PEACE

No Coffee & Rolls until further notice.

Dear Friends,

Hope you are all doing well. After having enjoyed fairly good weather we have witnessed a strike of snow this past Tuesday and Wednesday. The temperature has gone down, and the days are getting longer which is a good thing. After the feast of the Holy Family last Sunday, we are celebrating the Feast of Epiphany today. The day of the

Son’s revelation to the people of other nations. May the blessing of the Newborn Baby Jesus encompass everyone in a special way. Also, as we have started a new year, may the year 2021 bring us all good things and the special gifts of God. With all these pandemic troubles having to be done away with, may we enjoy a little bit of normalcy

again. I received cards from some of you for Christmas. I thank you all. That really made me happy, because I thought it

was a gesture to let me know I am accepted as one in your family. A big thank you to all those who wished me a Merry Christmas. Kindly keep the same warmth always. God bless your goodwill.

In India, the major and common mode of transportation is the bus. The government runs the buses for people. Though some upper-middle class and middle-class people have cars for their transportation, the common people still depend on buses for transportation. There are some private people running buses too. As a common tradition in India, the private buses are more efficient and more comfortable to travel by. Though the cost is comparatively

more than the government buses, people tend to opt for those buses, especially for longer travels. When I was in the boarding school for my school studies, my friends and I had to travel at least three hours or even

more to come home for holidays. So, obviously we tend to look for some private buses. Sometimes we would get private buses and sometimes luck was not in our favor. There was one particular friend of mine who always had a craze for these private buses. As soon as he sees one, irrespective of where the bus was destined to head, he would

insist that he travels by that bus. My friends and I had a hard time to convince him that the bus was not going where we wanted to go, and we needed to look for some other bus that heads towards our town.

Sometimes we had to unnecessarily wait for a private bus, wasting time, to cater to his desire of travelling by a private bus. Imagine what would have happened if we had just left him by himself or travelled with him by any private bus even if it were not headed our way. We would have never reached our destination, our home.

This is typically what happens with many of us, most of the time. We are attracted by the material world and its short-lived pleasure and miss the real destination, our Home and we miss the Head of the Home, God. We forget that these material things would not necessarily lead us Home. But because we are enticed by those things we tend

to opt for it most of the time. This Feast of the Epiphany is a reminder of our real Destiny, and that we need to cling on to that Destiny and we should choose the proper mode of transportation to reach our Destiny. That proper mode of transportation is Christ revealed today and his teachings. Have a blessed Epiphany!
