Team 1
The library at the East Bakersfield’s Boys & Girls Club is a haven for students to read their favorite books or master their schoolwork. However, the facility had not undergone an update in more than 15 years. Team 1 renovated the library into a multi-purpose room with new furnishings, fresh paint and a newly installed mural.
Team 2
The Bakersfield Senior Center is a resource and social hub for the city’s older generation. To ensure local seniors have a safe space to connect and exercise, Team 2 gave the center’s outdoor area a significant face-lift. Commercial-grade outdoor fitness equipment, benches and new landscaping were installed. The team will also use extra donations it raised to fund additional projects at the center.

Statistics often show boys face extreme obstacles when they age out of the foster care system. To provide a successful transition into life on their own, Team 4 facilitated classes for boys at Kern Bridges Youth Homes, which covered topics like financial wellness, employment and life skills. They also redesigned and updated an outdoor area at the Kern County Daughter Project.
Team 3 Team 4
Although Kern’s agriculture industry feeds most of the world, many children and adults in the community are not sure where their next meal will come from. To raise awareness about the community’s food insecurity issues, Team 3 worked with renowned artist Bumblebeelovesyou to design a mural at The Kitchen in downtown Bakersfield. The team also held a food drive and made a monetary donation to the Bakersfield Homeless Center.
