how easy it is to use the Presentation Game to add interactivity to your presentations. This is one of the

most flexible presentations tools available.

First you’ll open the Presentation Game by clicking on the Training Presentation Tools tab as picture above.

It’s always there when you open PowerPoint!

Click through this presentation at your own pace.

The Presentation Game uses 2 buttons on your PowerPoint menu.

1. Game Setup opens the setup in edit mode.

2. Add Game Buttons will add small black buttons (shown in the upper left corner) to each of your presentation slides to allow you to access the game menu in slideshow mode. • You’ll want to add these buttons once your presentation is

complete, so you can access the Game Menu from all slides.

• We’ll cover the Game Menu in detail after reviewing how to setup your game.

Let’s press Game Setup.

Player or Team names are typed in here. It holds up to 36 names.

You can clear all names or reset default names by pressing these buttons.

Here you can select the number of players or teams that will appear on the main Game Menu when you click on the small black

button (in slide show mode) to launch the Game Menu.

One of the game options is to display random text or actions. These are entered here. When designing your game rules use your imagination to

create actions that players or teams might need to perform. One of these six items will randomly appear when the Action button on the Game Menu

is clicked. These can be learning challenges or simply fun actions. This could also make a great icebreaker.

Here you can build and add a custom question slide to your presentation. Below are 3 buttons to create open-ended, true/false or multiple choice questions. The multiple choice question can have up to

4 correct answers. You can also add to your question slide a 30 or 60 second timer and have it count down when clicked or automatically

when the slide first appears.

This button clears all the scores from the Menu.

This area lets you optionally create different game setups and load them. By default, setup changes are saved when the setup menu is

closed. You can also name each of your setups here.

Here you can choose a previously developed game setup or build and save a new setup. Up to 10 different setups can be stored. This will save

ALL your set up selections but is especially handy if you’ve entered the names of many class members who will be playing again.

The Game Menu includes a random number selector and this is where you input the max. range of numbers. It’s set to select from a range of 1

– 10, but you can expand this to 10,000 if needed. You can use it to select raffle tickets, bingo numbers or any thing you can think of!

The Point Multiplier controls how many points are added or subtracted to a player or team’s score when the +/- button on the Game Menu is

pressed.

These buttons apply to the J Board. Here you have a Jeopardy style game board which can also be used as your presentation’s Table of Contents (both pictured above). Imagine you can jump to any slide

in your presentation at any time.

The Reset J Board button resets the buttons that were hidden during game play. The Change J Board Colors button opens this dialog box (right) and allows you to choose the J Board’s background, header and button color by just clicking on a selection. Now let’s click on

the J Board Setup button and have a look at it.

Here you will type in the game and category titles for the J Board.

If your using the board as a game, these will be the categories your players/teams will

select questions from. If used as a Table of Contents here is where you’ll input your

presentation’s major topics.

Here you will enter point values or slide names for up to 20 questions or hyperlinks.

As a default we’ve provided standard Jeopardy point values, but keep in mind you can change these values and even replace them with names of particular slides you may want to jump to when presenting.

Below the category titles, you’ll find slider bars, used to select the slide number that

you want that button to go to when clicked. Keep in mind if you’ve added new slides after

completing this setup (effectively changing the slide #s) you’ll need to return here to

reset any slide numbers that have changed.

The Reset Values button provides a quick way to reset default point values. The Reset

Buttons shows any buttons hidden during a game.

Game Mode Checkbox: If checked, buttons once initially used in a game will then be

disappear when you return to the J Board. If unchecked, these buttons will not disappear

from the board.

You can select from 1 to 4 columns of buttons to display. This allows you to show

boards with 5, 10, 15 or all 20 buttons.

Let’s press Add Game Buttons.

On this pop-up, you have 2 choices:

1. Add Game Buttons to all of the slides in the current presentation. Use this button after your presentation is completed, or when you’ve added additional slides into a presentation.

2. Delete Game Buttons removes all of the Game buttons in the current presentation.

Here is a look at the Game buttons we’ve added. It is a small, neutral colored button and will display the Game Menu when pressed from any slide in SLIDESHOW mode.

Note: These buttons will only work on computers with the Presentation Game Add-In installed.

The first 4 buttons on the Game Menu are random selectors.

“Players” will randomly select a player or team name. If you want to select additional names then just click

on the name again.

“Numbers” will display a random number between 1 and the max. number set on the Game Setup.

“Action” will display one of the random actions entered on the Game Setup.

“Point Grid” displays 9 letters. Clicking on a letter displays a random point value based on the points

multiplier on the Game Setup. A great way to determine the point value of a question if not using

the J Board.

The J board can be used as a game board with questions attached or as a table of

contents with slides attached.

The Timer can be used to time any event or program exercise. It has Start, Pause and Stop buttons. The slider can set the timer from 1 minute to 240 minutes (4 Hours).

“Rules/Notes” can be used to display the game rulesyou’ll want to review with your game players or to jot down follow up questions that are asked during your

presentation.The last 3 gray buttons will move you

backwards, return to last slide viewed or forward during a presentation. These are

optional because you can click directly on a slide to go forward.

You’ll find the “Last” button helpful if you’ve used the J Board to jump to a question slide

and want to easily return to your place in the presentation.

You can “Close” the Menu at any time and open it by pressing the small black button in

the upper left corner of any slide while in SLIDESHOW mode.

These slides use custom animation to work the optional timer and reveal the correct answers.The Answer button will reveal the correct answers in SLIDESHOW mode. To setup the correct answers on the true/false and multiple choice questions you must drag the arrows up and down to appear next to the correct answers only (while in edit mode). Depending upon your Slide Master design you might have to adjust the textboxes and fonts to appear correctly. To add additional choices on a Multiple Choice question, just hit enter after the last choice. Note: The Presentation Game works with all versions of PowerPoint 2007 and later. PowerPoint files that were developed in earlier versions of PowerPoint will often launch in Compatibility Mode. Such files should first be saved as PPTX or PPTM files prior to inserting the above formatted question slides.
