We recognize the need for in-person gathering and we

thank you for your patience and understanding through

this time. Though we have not gathered in-person for

over 2 months, the work of faith has continued unabated.

Living Word will resume in-person worship on Sunday

June 21st. This reopen will be a phased reopen to

ensure the safety of all in our community. Because

COVID-19 still poses a threat to mass gatherings; and

because so much is still unknown, we strongly make the

following recommendations regarding the resumption of

in-person worship:

1. If you have underlying health conditions or are within

the age category must susceptible to communicable

illnesses, we strongly encourage you to continue virtual

worship.

2. Physical contact (like shaking hands, hugs etc.) is not

encouraged during in-person worship.

3. Our in-person worship service times will be ONLY at

8am & 11am.

4. Virtual worship will be provided at 9am & 10am.

5. Because social distancing measures remain in place,

we will only seat 150 people, or 25% capacity of our

sanctuary per service. Pews will be marked to ensure

appropriate distancing. We encourage you to make

worship reservations through our website

www.livingwordkaty.org/reserve. These measures are

temporary and for the safety of our entire community.

6. Masks are strongly recommended. We will have

additional masks on hand for those who need it them.

7. Lastly, we encourage you to continue to take the best

care of yourselves and your family. We encourage you to

make wise decisions for your sake and for the sake of

your neighbors.

discussion, devotion and sharing. The group is for those

who just graduated high school through the mid twenties.

The first meeting will be on Sunday, July 5th at 4:00pm

on Zoom. At that time we will figure out future meeting

Living Word and Lutherhill Ministries have joined forces

to create a Virtual Day Camp experience that will be

FREE for all. Each day will offer camp songs, Bible

stories, arts & crafts, solo challenges and spirituality

practices.

We’ll explore the theme VISION 2020: To See as God

Sees. To see the intricate beauty and grand majesty of

creation. To see all people made in the image of God.

To see and embrace who God created us to be.

Happy campers can join the fun each day, or spread out

the experience over several weeks - choose your own

adventure. You can invite a friend from your

neighborhood to join you. Or virtually gather with your

church family to follow along together. Virtual Day Camp

will be accessible at www.LivingWordKaty.org/Events on

June 22.

All the fun of Vacation Bible School wherever you happen

to be! We are in the process of creating a FREE Virtual

Vacation Bible School experience! Each day will offer a

daily video, music, Bible stories, arts & crafts, family

devotions, and more!

The theme is Let Your Light Shine Bright! We will

explore characters in the Bible who let their lights shine

brightly and ways in which we can do the same,

especially during these uncertain times.

Virtual Vacation Bible School will be available in early

July at www.LivingWordKaty.org.

“Apply in July”

for a Living Word Endowment Grant

The Living Word Endowment Committee is pleased to

announce we will be accepting applications for 2020 grants

during July 1 through July 31 for both of our Endowments.

The Living Legacy Endowment seeks to provide funding to

new or expanding ministries at Living Word, as well as

support to local and global initiatives. The Education

Endowment aims to financially assist Living Word members

(or their relatives) studying to be ordained as an ELCA

pastor/deacon/chaplain; or other students attending an

ELCA affiliated college or university.

Hurricane Season 2020

Cristobal was a reminder to all of us that hurricane season

on the Gulf Coast is here and that we all need to prepare. It

is important that every household has a “Hurricane Kit”

prepared prior to needing it. Once a storm is heading our

way the essentials become hard to get and you need to

spend your time preparing your home and family not

looking for supplies. Once we are again meeting as a

congregation, the information stand with FEMA materials

and suggestions for what to include in a Hurricane Kit will

be available in the church lobby. However, there is no need

to wait as the information can be found at

WWW.READY.GOV.
