The practice of law operates in an increasingly complex, global and competitive environment. Our current and future environment provides opportunities and challenges which we as practitioners do not always have the opportunity to control, reflect or act upon. Law Summer School is one day each year which provides this opportunity. The Law Society’s premier legal education conference combines respected thought leaders, members of the profession and robust discussion in a high energy and inspiring learning environment. With the approach of being connected, informed and global, the Law Society has yet again attracted an outstanding group of local, national and international speakers to discuss small and big picture topics relevant to practitioners in Western Australia.

We are delighted that Law Summer School 2018 will feature a current outstanding jurist: Justice Julie Ward, the Chief Judge in Equity of the Supreme Court of New South Wales. Justice Ward will deliver the topic “Fragmenting equities”.

As always, Law Summer School will also take the opportunity to look at the broad landscape with such sessions as the opening Breakfast Panel Discussion on the Biggest Challenges Facing the Legal Profession in the next five years facilitated by The Honourable Robert French AC, and the Closing Plenary entitled Leadership and Strategy: Lesson learnt from Corporate Australia presented by Diane Smith-Gander, Non-Executive Director Wesfarmers Limited. We will also devote a number of sessions to recent legal developments in a variety of practice areas including administrative law, criminal law, practice management, multi-disciplinary practices and commercial law.

Come and join us for what will be an outstanding learning opportunity. Engage with speakers of the highest calibre and share your thoughts with fellow practitioners throughout the day!
