It’s not about the Technology – it’s about the Learning.
Using technology should not mean doing the ‘same ole’ with a more expensive pencil – it’s about leveraging learning in ways that cannot be done without it.

iPad Tips & Tricks – Settings
• Keyboard Clicks OFF (Settings > Sounds)
• Siri ON (To allow for dictation General -> SIRI) and Allow “Hey SIRI” ON
• Speak Selection ON (Settings > General > Accessibility -> Speech) “Speak Screen” OFF – will speak everything on the screen
Adjust the Speaking Rate for the individual• Zoom ON (Settings > General > Accessibility) Turn OFF if don’t like

• Guided Access ON (Settings > General > Accessibility)Keeps iPad in a single app (Be sure to discuss and agree on a Passcode if iPads are being shared between multiple classrooms/teachers at a site).
• Microphone ON in all appropriate apps (Settings > Privacy)
• Photos ON in all appropriate apps (Settings > Privacy)
• Location Services ON in all appropriate apps (Settings > Privacy)

iPad Tips & Tricks – Settings• Invert Colors – great for vision-impaired students (General
-> Accessibility) and reading at night…
• Split keyboard – makes it easier when holding and walking
• Mono Audio – lets students use earbud in only one ear (General -> Accessibility Hearing)
• Orthographic signs (accents) –hold the key down and choose desired letter key
• Use as a document cam – go to camera mode when attached to projector

• Arranging icons/apps – press and hold iconoDrag into foldersoIf drag one app on top of the other, a folder will be
automatically created.• Four-finger swipe
oSwipe up – reveal other open apps (Opens the Dock) – can also close appsoSwipe left – transition between apps
• Double click home button – shows all open apps – drag up to close each one

• Make a webpage a home screen shortcut – open the website and use the upload icon – choose ‘Add to Homescreen’
• Use the microphone on the keyboard to dictate to screen – make sure not to have a finger on the mic….great for EL students
• Use ‘Hey Siri’ to set a timer

• Trigger Images - the graphic used to launch the video• Overlay - the video or other experience that appears
when a user scans the trigger image.• Aura - the combination of trigger images and overlays.• Channel - the group of aurasmas in a person’s ‘folder’

• Download the app
• Click the + (You can create an account but you don’t have to.)
• Link a video from your iPad (need to download it and then move it onto your iPad).
• Take a photo of the image you want to be the ‘trigger’.
• Complete the Aura
The Trigger Image you used will ONLY trigger the video/file on the device that creates it
