Program Status
• First three students hired June 2014
– From Jacksonville, Fort Pierce and Miami
– All three students remain in the program.
• Six students included in this Apprentice Program by 2014 year end
• Training the young generation to enter the railroad industry
– Training includes all major railroad craft positions
• Candidates will join FECR traditional workforce after 18 months in either
transportation, engineering, or mechanical departments

and major highways I-395 and I-95.
The dedication ceremony for the Tunnel
took place May 19th 2014.
The Tunnel Features:
- Two lane highway
- No tolls
- 91 surveillance cameras
- 44 Air Quality Control Jet Fans
- Fire Suppression System
Tunnel entrance: Eastbound Interstate 395 with access via Biscayne Boulevard or nearby Interstate 95.
The PortMiami tunnel allows for quick truck entrance and
exit from the port.
