Inclement Weather The decision to close or delay school for inclement weather will be reported on local TV stations by 6:30 a.m.
When weather conditions develop during the day that make an early dismissal advisable, learners will be dismissed in the following order: high/middle schools, then elementary schools.
We will continue the use of the AlertNow Rapid Communication Service to make learners and staff aware of school delays and cancellations due to inclement weather. A call will be made to your primary phone number by 6:30 a.m. in the event of a school closing or delay.
Radio and television stations will be advised of these early dismissals and delays. Please refrain from calling the schools during these situations as telephones may be needed for emergency calls. Stations carrying school closing information include: FM 90.3, FM 94.5, FM 96.9, FM 103.3, FM 101.3, AM 1490, and TV channels 27 and 8, and online at www.thewgalchannel.com, or the PVSD website at www.pequeavalley.org.
In the Event of an EmergencyParents should know that their access to the school during an incident may be barred
for a variety of reasons, such as airborne chemicals or toxins. If learners are to be released to parents, there will be an orderly system to provide for the safety of each child. In such instances, we will coordinate with the local media to get information to you. It is important that you remain aware of public notices on Channel 8 TV and our district website (www.pequeavalley.org) about emergency procedures and updates. In every case, learner and staff safety is our first priority. All procedures will be designed for their protection.

Standardized Testing The results of these tests provide a continuing record of each learner’s academic
progress in comparison with national and local norms. They are also an invaluable aid to the learner’s facilitators and counselors in diagnosing individual strengths and needs in order to provide more effective individualized instruction. During the school year, the following tests will be administered in the Pequea Valley School District as part of this program. Scores earned by learners will be recorded on their permanent record. Although the Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT) is not offered at our high school, it is offered at several area high school locations.

VisionPequea Valley School District,“Where Each Learner Counts”
We believe that...• Learning occurs when a positive relationship is developed with each PV learner.• Learning occurs when the environment is focused around autonomy, mastery, and purpose.• Learning will occur in flexible environments.• Learning is a collaborative activity.• Learning occurs when associated with a child’s interests, strengths, and zone of proximal development.• Learning occurs at different paces and rates.• Learning will allow EACH PV learner to receive their post-secondary “First Choice”.
Belief Statements
The Pequea Valley School District will strive to create an “Ideal Learning Environment” that inspires each learner to excel. “Ideal Learning Experience” - Meeting each learner at his/her (interest/learning) level, challenging them, so
that everyone is motivated to return tomorrow.
