Department/Company NewsJBSSection GG FAQ’s
Contact JBS at (601) 264-8578 or [email protected]
Who can complete Section GG?Any licensed therapy staff member (PT, PTA, OTR/L, COTA/L, SLP), can report the information for Section GG. Any discipline can answer any assessment item.
Section GG allows for reporting on the admission, discharge, and an optional interval assessment. Section GG is not required on unplanned discharges. The date of assessment is programmed to match MDS requirements - day 1-3 of stay for admission and 1-3 days leading into a planned discharge.
When do I report on Section GG?
Why are there no ST Areas in the Section GG Interface? The color coded asterisks on the interface are “suggestions” for which discipline may be best suited to answer the questions. At this time, ST does not have any specific, dedicated questions. JBS added the ST color in case Section GG expands.
The GG Assessment in JBS remains open until the next assessment is created. Once a new assessment is created, additional or discharge, the previous assessment cannot be edited.
How long does the Section GG Interface remain open in JBS?
If a patient is inadvertently discharged prior to the DC Assessment being created, can it still be added?Yes. By using the Patient Search Tool, you can select the desired patient, then the appropriate PPS Case. From this page, the Section GG Assessment can be added.

Welcome to the Family!
“ACE is an opportunity to improve your own clinical skills in an area you are passionate about as well as share knowledge and passion with your fellow TMC therapists.”
-Betsy Page, SLP Merritt Island, FL
“I liked that we are able to go at our own pace in the ACE Program. Although it is guided, we can pace ourselves as our schedule allows.”
-Amber Almarode, COTA/L Shreveport, LA
Advancing Clinical ExcellenceWhat is ACE and why are we passionate about it?
We believe that providing clinical excellence is what is best for our patients, team members, and TMC as a whole. The ACE Program was created to identify individuals with the heart and skills to serve a greater role in TMC clinical initiatives.
Please send any questions to: [email protected] tuned for more information to come!
Check out all the requirements and forms here!
If you or someone you know exemplifies the ALL IN character and has the desire to help lead the push for clinical excellence, please consider a nomination for ACE!
The ACE Program seeks the most deserving applicants and requires candidates to go through a selection process.
“When a therapist participates in ACE, it adds increased clinical skills to your facility and to your patients - getting better treatment outcomes and a quicker return home.”
-Jennifer Dibble, COTA/L Merritt Island, FL

The IPV has great potential as a tool for compromised respiratory patients. It can help decrease hospital readmissions as well as develop a specialty that is appealing to hospitals looking to establish partnerships with SNFs in the near future.
After sharing the research with my administrative staff, they were on board to acquire this device to help improve outcomes for their patients. The rounding
pulmonologist was especially excited as they will be able to decrease the risk of pulmonary patients coming and
going to the hospital.
In general, the IPV is a pneumatic positive pressure device used to move mucus. It sends small, fast bursts of air that open the airways, which loosen and free mucus from the airway walls. It works like chest physical therapy, but does not require rigid positioning for it to be effective.
We want to hear what you are doing to achieve clinical excellence in your facility!
Excellence in Action
While doing some personal research, I found information on the intrapulmonary percussive ventilator (IPV) and felt this
was something I should share with my facility DON and administrator.
A success story from our Merritt Island, FL Team as told by Wendy Underwood, COTA/L
Advancement through Research
This is an out of the box idea as we prepare for how to best care for our medically complex patients as the industry changes occur. The benefit to the population we serve is great, and the potential is there to help many other residents across the country.
Send your success stories to your Area Manager!
