A newsletter for Orange Regional Medical Center employees, physicians and volunteers www.ormc.org November 2015 - 1 - From The President & CEO Scott Batulis President & CEO The Thanksgiving season is a time to reflect on all we have to be thankful for, especially this year as we continue to grow and expand. I extend my heartfelt thanks to all volunteers, employees and physicians for your commitment in going above and beyond for our patients and their families. We receive many words of praise through letters, comments and emails submitted by patients and family members. They describe the extraordinary things that our staff does every day. While we are great at taking care of others, we must also make it our goal to take care of ourselves. I encourage you to be role models for our patients by eating healthy, exercising regularly and getting enough rest. The benefits you reap from caring for yourself will have a positive effect on your family while also helping you deliver quality care to our patients. I am thankful that Orange Regional is stable and strong while many hospitals and healthcare systems continue to struggle. I feel grateful to be part of a system that our community can count on in a time of need. In order for this to continue, we must all remain dedicated and work together. Thank you for providing me the opportunity to work with you. Together we can continue to make a difference in the lives of our patients and our community. Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family! Sincerely, Scott Batulis, President & CEO Prematurity Event Raises Awareness On November 14, the Rowley Family Birthing Center and Neonatal Intensive Care Unit with the support of Marketing & Public Relations, Children’s ED, Pediatrics, March of Dimes, Babies R’ Us and Orange Regional Medical Group, hosted a free prematurity awareness event in recognition of World Prematurity Day on November 17. Orange Regional’s clinical experts provided information, education, a teddy bear clinic for kids and free promotional items to community members. From The President & CEO

Scott BatulisPresident & CEO

The Thanksgiving season is a time to reflect on all we have to be thankful for, especially this year as we continue to grow and expand. I extend my heartfelt thanks to all volunteers, employees and physicians for your commitment in going above and beyond for our patients and their families. We receive many words of praise through letters, comments and emails submitted by patients and family members. They describe the

extraordinary things that our staff does every day.

Sincerely,

Scott Batulis, President & CEO

Pharmacy Provides Tours In recognition of Pharmacy Week, October 18-25, our Pharmacy opened its doors to provide tours to our staff on October 21. These “medication experts” gave their fellow employees an up-close look at daily pharmacy activities and how the team improves medication safety. Not only was the open house informative but pharmacy staff even prescribed candy medicine to those who attended the event.

Diagnostic Imaging AwardsCongratulations to Orange Regional’s Diagnostic Imaging employees Katie Correa and Mark O’Brien and Dr. Victor Todisco. They each received the Outstanding Recognition For Magnificent Caring Award at the Diagnostic Imaging Customer Service Awards Ceremony held in October.

Celebrating Our VeteransOn Veteran's Day, Orange Regional thanked and recognized physicians, employees, volunteers, patients and visitors who have served our country. As a tribute to our Veterans, Robin Masiero, Manager of Emergency Management, sang "God Bless America" in the lobby, as we welcomed and honored the American Legion Post 151.

Holiday Schedule For Off-Site Locations

Halloween Happenings Staff celebrated in style this year by dressing up in costumes in recognition of Halloween! From our President & CEO and the Executive Team to the IT Department – all staff that participated really got into the spirit!

Biomedical Team Educates Staff With Halloween Costume

The Biomedical team, who make sure that medical equipment we use for patient care is always functional, used a Halloween costume as a learning tool. The team made a 5-foot enlargement of the Alaris Pump, which is a large volume infusion pump that helps continuously or intermittently deliver fluids, medications, blood and blood products to patients. They visited nursing stations all over the hospital to deliver information on the importance of instrument maintenance. To view more photos, visit the Family Photo Album at ormc.org/mediagallery.

Educating Our Community On Halloween, Orange Regional Safety Manager Henry Ruckdeschel, Security Manager Gregg Hough, and Manager of Emergency Management, Robin Masiero, handed out literature (as well as candy and goodies) at Home Depot in celebration and recognition of Fire Safety/Fire Prevention. Attendees were encouraged to change the batteries in their smoke detectors when they turned clocks back that night.
