2. Education Pg.73 In the teacher sent fromGod, heaven gave to men its best andgreatest. He who had stood in the councils of themost high, who had dwelt in the innermostsanctuary of the eternal, was the one chosen toreveal in person to humanity the knowledge ofGodThrough Christ had been committedevery ray of divine light that had ever reachedour fallen world. It was he who had spokenthrough everyone that throughout the agesthat declared Gods word to manTo revealthis ideal as the only true standard forattainment;for this, Christ came to this world. 3. 1.To be ones IDEAL means: To exalt such a one as an idea of perfection. The archetype{original model or type from which other things are patterned}. The criterion{a standard, rule or test}. The example, The Model, The only pattern. The quintessential{being the most typical}. Supreme. Bk. Collins Dictionary + Thesaurus, FreeDictionary.com 4. 2. Jesus is presented in scripture ashumanitys ideal sacrifice for the sin ofhumanity in Yhwhs view, because it isYhwh who provided him:Jn.1:29, 35, 36 The next day John seethJesus coming unto him, and saith, Beholdthe Lamb of God, which taketh awaythe sin of the world.[35] Again the next day after Johnstood, and two of his disciples;[36]Andlooking upon Jesus as he walked, hesaith, Behold the Lamb of God! 5. Heb. 9:26, 28 For then must he oftenhave suffered since the foundation ofthe world: but now once in the end ofthe world hath he appeared to put awaysin by the sacrifice of himself[28] SoChrist was once offered to bear the sinsof many; and unto them that look forhim shall he appear the second timewithout sin unto salvation. 6. 3. Jesus is to be consideredbecause of his purpose ofbecoming human, his knowledgeinfluencing sacrifice for humanity: Jn.3:14,15 And as Moses lifted upthe serpent in the wilderness, evenso must the son of man be liftedup.[15]That whosoever believeth inhim should not perish, but haveeternal life. 7. Jn. 12:32,33 And I, if I be lifted up fromthe earth, will draw all men untome.[33]This he said, signifying whatdeath he should die.1Pet.1:18,19 Forasmuch as ye knowthat ye were not redeemed withcorruptible things, as silver andgold, from your vain conversationreceived by tradition from yourfathers;[19]But with the precious bloodof Christ, as of a lamb without blemish 8. Isa.53:10,11 Yet it pleased the Lord tobruise him; he hath put him to grief:when thou shalt make his soul anoffering for sin, he shall see hisseed, he shall prolong his days, and thepleasure of the Lord shall prosper in hishand.[11]He shall see of the travail ofhis soul, and shall be satisfied: by hisknowledge shall my righteousservant justify many; for he shall beartheir iniquities. 9. 4. Jesus is to be considered because hemade the way possible for humanity toexperience perfection through hisexemplary earthly life: Heb.2:14-18 Forasmuch then as thechildren are partakers of flesh andblood, he also himself likewise took partof the same; that through death he mightdestroy him that hath the power ofdeath, that is, the devil; 10. [15]And deliver them who through fear ofdeath were all their lifetime subject tobondage.[16]For verily he took not on himthe nature of angels; but took on him theseed of Abraham.[17]Wherefore in allthings it behooved him to be made likeunto his brethren, that he might be amerciful and faithful high priest in thingspertaining to God, to make reconciliation forthe sins of the people.[18]For in that hehimself hath suffered being tempted, he isable to succor them that are tempted. 11. Heb.12:1-3 Wherefore seeing we also arecompassed about with so great a cloud ofwitnesses, let us lay aside every weight, andthe sin which doth so easily beset us, and letus run with patience the race that is set beforeus,[2]Looking unto Jesus the author andfinisher of our faith; who for the joy that wasset before him endured the cross, despisingthe shame, and is set down at the right handof the throne of God.[3]For consider him thatendured such contradiction of sinners againsthimself, lest you be wearied and faint in yourminds. 12. 1Pet.2:21-23 For even hereunto wereyou called: because Christ also sufferedfor us, leaving us an example, that youshould follow his steps:[22]Who did nosin, neither was guile found in hismouth:[23]Who, when he wasreviled, reviled not again; when hesuffered, he threatened not; butcommitted himself to him that judgethrighteously: 13. Gal.1:3,4 Grace be unto you andpeace from God the Father, andfrom our Lord JesusChrist.[4]Who gave himself forour sins, that he might deliver usfrom this present evilworld, according to the will ofGod and our Father: 14. 5. Jesus is to be considered because heis Yhwhs wisdom to all who acceptshim:1Cor.1:24,30 But unto them whichare called, both Jews andGreeks, Christ the power of God, andthe wisdom of God[30]But of him areyou in Christ Jesus, who of God is madeunto us wisdom, andrighteousness, and sanctification, and 15. 6. Jesus is to be considered because he isYhwh in word, Yhwhs glory, Yhwh himself:Jn.1:1 In the beginning was the Word, andthe Word was with God, and the Word wasGod.Jn.17:5 And now, O Father, glorify thou me withthine own self with the glory which I had withthee before the world was.Mic.5:2 But thou, Bethlehem Ephratah, thoughthou be little among the thousands of Judah, yetout of thee shall he come forth unto me that isto be ruler in Israel; whose goings forth havebeen from old, from everlasting. 16. 7. Jesus is to be considered becausesalvation can come through no other deity:Jn.14:6 Jesus said unto him, I am theway, the truth, and the life: no man comethunto the Father, but by me.Acts.4:12 Neither is there salvation in anyother: for there is none other name underheaven given among men, whereby wemust be saved.Acts.13:26 Men and brethren, children of thestock of Abraham, and whosoever amongyou feareth God, to you is the word of thissalvation sent. 17. 8. Jesus is to be considered because tohim is given the responsibility of thejudgment of humanity:Jn.5:21-24 For as the Father raiseth upthe dead, and quickeneth them; even sothe Son quickeneth whom hewill.[22]For the Father judgeth no man, buthath committed all judgment unto theSon:[23]That all men should honor theSon, even as they honor the Father. Hethat honoureth not the Son honoureth notthe Father which hath sent him. 18. Jn.5:24,30 Verily, verily, I say unto you, he thatheareth my word, and believeth on him thatsent me, hath everlasting life, and shall notcome into condemnation; but is passed fromdeath unto life[30]I can of my own self donothing: as I hear I judge: and my judgment isjust; because I seek not mine own will, but the willof the Father which sent me.Mt.25:31,32 When the Son of man shall come inhis glory, and all the holy angels with him, thenshall he sit upon the throne of his glory:[32]Andbefore him shall be gathered all nations: andhe shall separate them one from another, as ashepherd divideth his sheep form the goats: 19. 2Cor.5:10 For we must all appearbefore the judgment seat of Christ;that everyone may receive the thingsdone in his body, according to that hehath done, weather it be good orbad.1Jn.4:17 Herein is our love madeperfect, that we may have boldness inthe day of judgment: because as heis, so are we in this world. 20. 9.Therefore we can truly consider Jesus ourIDEAL byIdolizing, Deifying, Exalting, Attributes of theLord:Acts.17:23-31 For as I passed by, and beheldyour devotions, I found an alter with theinscription, TO THE UNKNOWN GOD. Whomtherefore you ignorantly worship, him declareI unto you.[24] God hath made the world and allthings therein, seeing that he is Lord of heavenand earth, dwelleth not in temples made withhands;[25] Neither is worshipped with menshands, as though he needed any thing, seeing 21. [26]And hath made of one blood all nationsof men for to dwell on all the face of theearth, and hath determined the timesbefore appointed, and the bounds of theirhabitations;[27]That they should seek theLord, if haply they might feel after him, andfind him, though he be not far form everyone of us:[28]For in him we live, andmove, and have our being; as certain ofyour own poets have said, for we are alsohis offspring 22. [29]For as much then as we are the offspringof God, we aught not to think that theGodhead is like unto gold, or silver, orstone, graven by art and mans device.[30]Andthe times of this ignorance God winked at; butnow commandeth all men every where torepent:[31]Because he hath appointed aday, in the which he will judge the world inrighteousness by that man whom he hathordained; whereof he hath given assuranceunto all men, in that he hath raised him fromthe dead. 23. Bible Commentary Bk.7. pg.970 We are to copy nohuman being. There is no human being wiseenough to be our criterion. We are to look to theman Christ Jesus, who is complete in theperfection of righteousness and holiness. He isthe author and finisher of our faith. He is thepattern man. His experience is the measure of theexperience that we are to gain. His character is ourmodel. Let us, then, take our minds off theperplexities and difficulties of this life, and fix themon him, that by beholding we may be changed intohis likeness. We may behold Christ to good purpose. We may safely look to him; for he is all-wise. As welook to him and think of him he will be formedwithin, the hope of glory. 24.
