AutoCAD in the spring 2012, we created a mixed-use development in downtown Cincinnati. We used

AutoCAD, GIS, and GoogleEarth to create this

sketch concept. The concept expresses ideas or the new development such as the community park.

    4. AutoCAD Project:Site Plan/Elevation

A ter the concept was developed, I created amore structured site plan and site elevation.

The site plan (on the right) shows the dimen-sions o the buildings, parking spaces, andthe change o direction o the roads. The siteplan was designed using AutoCAD along with

Adobe Illustrator. The site elevation (below)shows an example o how the buildings wouldbe designed with commercial on the rst leveland businesses and residential on the upper foors. This elevation was designed in AutoCADand Adobe Photoshop.

    Devou Park Project:Park Physical Analysis

In the Autumn o 2011, our class was challenged to createneighborhood developments within the area o Devou Park in Covington, Kentucky. My Partner, Jimmy Rosen, and I rststarted to make a physical analysis o the park to gain a better understanding o the potential opportunities and challenges

we would ace in the uture. To make these physical analysis

maps we combined maps and topologogy rom GIS, Geo-graphic In ormation System, and then used Adobe Illustrator to show levels o vegetation, slope, and physical attributionssuch as water run o .

Following the analysis o Devous physical attributions (slope, vegetation, and water run o ) we created asuitability map. This suitability map depicts the most suitable areas to develop on, ollowed by less suitable, and low suitable. We also showed some constraints o the park, such as high vegetation and potentials othe park, such as the view o Cincinnati. To create this map we used the pen tool in Illustrator to outline theareas o suitability.

A ter completing the park suitability analysis and receiv-ing our section o the park, indicated by map in top le tcorner, Jimmy and I started the design process. Thehighly dense vegetation and swales dictated where

we could develop. When designing our neighborhood we wanted to ocus on connectivity and green space.

    Devou Park Project:Neighborhood Design Proposal

There were three main components to our design

o the neighborhood. The rst expressed in thesegment above is the abundance o green spaceand walkability. There is a centralized park with

walking paths that connect all the homes andmixed use commercial buildings. It was impor-tant to us that each building had direct access togreen space. The second component show atthe top right is the mixed use building. We wantedto make sure that the parking was in the rear obuildings that shield the pavement and cars rom

the community. Thirdly, bottom right, we wantedto show the housing and how it connects to thegreen space. I designed theses renderings byhand using colored pencils

    8. Evanston Neighborhood Project:

In the Winter o 2010-2011, we did revamp projects or di erent business districts within Cincinnati. My partner, JimmyRosen, and I had the neighborhood o Evanston. This was the rst time we ever used GIS, so we did analysis o HamiltonCounty, Cincinnati, and our neighborhood Evanston. Above a some examples o the GIS work I did or the project.
