NEW WHITE PAPER FOR MASONRY RESEARCH The paper entitled ‘The Use of Digital Image Correlation in Masonry Research’ is co-written by Dr Geoff Edgell, director and principal consultant for construction at Lucideon, and Cliff Fudge, technical director at H+H UK Limited. Digital Image Correlation (DIC) is an advanced visual analysis technique which provides insights and understanding into the performance, durability and failure analysis of materials and products when interacting with external forces, weights, strains and stresses. The paper discusses the use of DIC in recent projects on concrete masonry. CERAMIC INNOVATION NETWORK EVENT -

CERAMICS IN SOCIETY: DEMANDING ENVIRONMENTSOn 11 April 2018, we’re hosting and cosponsoring the free-to-attend Ceramic Innovation Network (CIN) conference, ‘Ceramics in Society: Demanding Environments’ with the British Ceramic Confederation (BCC). This event will bring together academics and industrialists from all sub-sectors of the ceramic industry seeking to improve their knowledge of the potential applications of ceramics across a range of demanding environments.

The government recently published advice for those responsible for the maintenance of buildings with render or brick-slip External Wall Insulation (EWI) systems. The guidance is of particular note for systems which are over 18m high or in an exposed location. The advice has been brought about by the government being informed that systems with a render or brick-slip finish may be susceptible to deterioration which could result in parts of systems falling from buildings*.

We provide visual inspections and condition surveys of EWI systems with a render or brick-slip finish.

Find out more about how we can help you at

www.lucideon.com/construction

*There is no suggestion that the overall structural safety of buildings is compromised.
