Western Water has begun planning for testing, training and start up of the Chlorine Contact Tank and Effluent Pump Station Systems. Western Water has provided a detailed testing and start-up schedule for this work, which will be reviewed at the next start-up meeting planned for early June. Operations and Maintenance manuals are being submitted and reviewed; testing and start-up plans are expected in June. Western Water (WW) maintained the SWPPP best management practices (BMPs) for wet weather. No rain days were incurred in May. Western Water continues routine weekly safety tailgate meetings, weekly safety checks, as well as the monthly safety audit performed by WW’s safety officer. Written reports of all meetings, checks and safety audits have been submitted for the record.
2. Polymer Facility: Western Water performed no work at the polymer facility during the month of May. They received the two polymer activation units, which will be installed in June. They are awaiting the Agency’s decision regarding the proposed repair of the polymer tank.
3. Gallery A & B Improvements, including Grit Chamber 3 and Headworks The shoring was removed from Gallery A extension. Western Water’s next efforts in this area are to complete sacking and patching of all interior walls, followed by mechanical work.

4. Primary Clarifiers 6 & 7 Western Water completed concrete placement of three slab sections for Primary Clarifier Tank No. 07 and the two short stairs between the roof over Gallery A extension and the Primary Clarifier deck. Western Water also installed the four sluice gates and two slide gates. Western Water installed the exposed 3W piping within Tank 6 and part of Tank 7. They also cut into the existing blending channel in preparation to connect the new blending channel to the existing. The next major efforts will concentrate on the completion of Tank No. 07 and the effluent and blending channels.
5. Chlorine Contact Tanks (CCT) 5 & 6 Western Water completed concrete placement of the stairs on the west side of the Chlorine Contact Tanks. Western Water continued work on minor mechanical work within the new Chlorine Contact Tanks, including the installation of the washdown monitors and pipe extensions on the 16-inch 3W line within each of the new tanks. Subcontractor, Aspen Timco, pulled wire and installed light standards (15 total) throughout the Chlorine Contact Tanks. Subcontractor, Hansen Painting, began painting the piping throughout the Chlorine Contact Tanks, including the 16-inch 3W line along the existing Chlorine Contact Tanks.
6. Effluent Pump Station (EPS) Western Water completed concrete placement of the exterior building stairs and stair parapet walls. They also completed interior sack and patch work. The roof was primed for installation of the bituminous roofing system. Western Water extended the equipment curbs approximately two feet to allow for the depth of the roofing material. After a delay due to testing personnel availability, the five vertical propeller pumps were successfully tested in the presence of witnesses from the Agency, Carollo Engineers and Harris & Associates. The pumps are expected to be delivered to the site the first week of June. Subcontractor, Aspen Timco continued installation of interior electrical conduits and installed the motor control centers and local lighting panels within the Effluent Pump Station equipment room. They also pulled wire and installed the interior and exterior light fixtures. Subcontractor, Allied Fire Protection has nearly completed installation of the fire sprinkler lines.
7. Site improvements No significant site work was performed in the month of May. In June, subcontractor, CATS 4 U will return to perform finish grading work around the Chlorine Contact Tanks. Western Water will then install the cross gutters to guide water flow into the new catch basins.
8. Aeration Tanks The electrical subcontractor, Aspen Timco, will submit a proposed conduit routing plan with details for the Agency’s review. The conduits are for the new sluice gate motor operators.
