Recording existing turnouts for turnout drive orsignal technology planningIf existing turnouts are to be equipped orconverted with a drive and setting system, itmay be necessary to record the correspondingexisting data on site. In particular, an on-siteinventory may be necessary for a signal-technical planning of individual turnout controlunits and depot control units in order to plancorresponding railway routes as regards controltechnology. Our team records these data onsite, adds customer information to it and takesthis as a basis to develop an appropriateproposed solution for the customer.

Planning the setting system in the turnout,interface clarificationThe turnout portfolio of voestalpine VAE Groupis supplemented by a comprehensive range ofpoint machines, lockings, setting and detectionsystems. In addition to voestalpine VAEcompanies, interface clarifications of amechanical and electrical nature are carriedout for infrastructure operators, consultants andother turnout providers. RAMS / LCC / safety verificationAs part of the product development, the RAMSprinciples (Reliability - Availability -Maintainability - Safety) as per EN50126 and50129 are taken into account. Based ondetermined RAMS key figures, a specific LCCevaluation can be carried out on the product orsystem level together with the customer. Inaddition, voestalpine SIGNALING ZeltwegGmbH is qualified to provide safety verificationsfor turnout setting systems as per EN50126 andEN50129. The safety verification confirmscompliance with the standard and life cycle-compliant development process and the safetyrequired for signal-technical products (genericor user-specific based on user conditions of thecustomer).

Appraisalsvoestalpine SIGNALING Zeltweg GmbH has itsown inspection agency (“test body”) whoseemployees are recognized as experts by theEBA (Eisenbahn-Bundesamt, German RailwayAgency) and are authorized to carry out expertwork for point machines and setting systems. Inaddition, the inspection agency has anaccreditation as an inspection body as perEN/ISO 17020. This means that the inspectionbody is authorized to evaluate the conformity oftheir client’s products with the standards EN50126 and EN 50129. They can operate as an“inspection body type B” within the voestalpineVAE Group as a supporting organization.

Compliance check of the signal box interfacevoestalpine SIGNALING Zeltweg GmbH cancarry out a conformity check for the interface tothe signal box if this is disclosed by the customerand a corresponding setting part of a turnoutgroup is provided for this verification. Ifnecessary, a specific cooperation occurs herewith a signal box manufacturer or an externalexpert.

Maintenance based on diagnostic dataThe changeover from periodic to state-basedmaintenance was supported by thedevelopment of specific diagnostic tools. Recurring maintenance of drive and settingsystemsDue to wear and legal regulations (BeoStrab), arecurring inspection and maintenance at themanufacturer's plant may be necessary forturnout drives and setting systems. We offerholistic maintenance for system turnouts, drivesystems and setting systems.
