1) Submit by email: application, photo, CV and copy of transcripts.
2) Submit by post: hard copies of transcripts (or current grades) signed by your school.
TERM FORMAT Owen has 2 Mods per semester.
Each Mod is made up of 7 weeks of instruction, the 8th week is exam week.
Most courses meet: 2x a week, Monday - Thursday, for 1.5 hours per class = 2 credit hours.
If approved, students may study for a single Mod – during Spring semester only.
*All fees and insurance costs for the entire semester apply regardless of length of study.*

REQUIREMENTS FOR EXCHANGE
Non-US Citizen, Non-US Resident
2nd Year MBA or Graduate Business student, in good standing at their home school.
An equivalent GPA of 3.0 (B/B-) US standard or higher
English Standard exam taken within the last 2 years:
IELTS score of 7 TOEFL online score of 100
IELTS Speaking Score of 7 TOEFL Speaking Skill of 22
English exams may be waived if the home institution’s entire degree is taught with exams
given exclusively in English. Please provide a letter from your home institution.
Mandatory Purchase of Vanderbilt Student Injury and Sickness Insurance Plan for all Owen
exchange students:

Full-Time Status Required
o Fall or Spring Semester (2 Mods per semester): 12 hours minimum (6 courses over 2 Mods).
o Spring (1 Mod): 9-10 hours (5 courses in either Mod 3 or Mod 4).
TERM OF STUDY
Upon acceptance, Exchange students are approved to study at the Owen Graduate School of
Management for a maximum of one semester.
Exchange students are not eligible to transfer to Owen as a degree-seeking student or study
beyond their approved semester.
Owen does not authorize students to extend their stay for additional academic or professional
training.
LANGUAGE OF INSTRUCTION: English
Written and spoken English proficiency for MBA Level American Business English:
IELTS and TOEFL scores are required for students whose programs are not instructed in English.
METHOD OF INSTRUCTION: Case Studies, Team Work, Projects, Class Presentations, Lectures
Students should be prepared that classes are very interactive, team oriented and may require 20 hours (or
more) of outside work.
COURSE SELECTION & REGISTRATION
A list of available courses will be emailed to you by the exchange coordinator after Owen students
have registered. You are welcome to inquire if there are specific courses you are interested in
which are not on the list. We will do our best to work with your requirements for classes that are
offered during your stay.
The Owen Exchange Coordinator will register you for your courses.
Changes can be made during Drop/Add which is Mon. – Thur. of first week of classes.

ARRIVAL & DEPARTURE
FALL SEMESTER – Mods 1 & 2
Fall Orientation, August 9th, 2018 | Classes Begin August 13th, 2018
Students are required to meet with the Exchange Coordinator, ISSS office for SEVIS check-in
and Owen IT staff on the Thursday prior to the beginning of classes, August 9th , 2018. Please
bring your computer and documents.
Suggested arrival is 7-10 days prior to start of Fall classes. Students are invited to attend
portions of the Owen Fall Orientation which begins August 3, 2018.
*Confirm arrival details for August Orientation with Exchange Coordinator by early July.
SPRING SEMESTER – Mods 3 & 4
Spring Orientation, January 3, 2019 | Classes Begin January 7, 2019
Students are required to meet with the Exchange Coordinator, ISSS office for SEVIS check-in
and IT staff on the Thursday prior to the beginning of classes, January 3, 2019. Please bring
your computer and documents.
CAMPUS CLOSED BETWEEN SEMESTERS
Owen and Vanderbilt University are closed:
Dec 21, 2018 – January 1, 2019.
Suggested arrival is 5-7 days prior to start of Spring classes.
*Please confirm your arrival details before Dec 20th..
EXAM WEEKS & Travel
Please be prepared to remain on campus throughout the entire exam week if necessary.
You might prefer to get a flexible return ticket since not all classes require a final exam.
Students will need to ask their instructors at the beginning of the course if a final exam will be
required and then can make return travel arrangements at that time.
Students are required to complete all exams and course requirements prior to departure.

After you have been accepted at Owen and receive confirmation, you will receive an automated email
from the Vanderbilt International Student and Scholar Services with instructions on how to:

HOUSING & ESTIMATED LIVING EXPENSES
Vanderbilt does not have graduate student housing.
Students are encouraged to begin their housing search as soon as possible.
Please be aware that Nashville is a very hot market for short-term housing and scams have become
more common. Feel free to ask for help in determining if a housing situation seems appropriate.
Students may login to the Off-campus Referral Service using their VuNetID once accepted.

Housing (Off Campus): $1000 to $1500 per month
Meals: $350 per month
Books, Class Packs & Supplies: $600 - $1500 per semester
Miscellaneous: $600 per semester
STUDENT SERVICES PROVIDED
WiFi, Email & Printing: *Students should arrive with their own working laptops.*
Exchange students will be provided with an email account for their studies while at Owen.
The IT department provides support for logins, WiFi, and student printers.
Student printing is free of charge.
Career Services Counseling (CMC): Exchange students are welcome to attend workshops and
company presentations. Resume evaluation with Career Counselors may be available after full-
time students are served. Job placement services are not available to exchange students.

STUDENT SERVICES PROVIDED
Student Associations & Clubs: Exchange students are invited to join the varied Owen clubs and
the weekly “Closing Bell” social hour held at 5:30pm on Thursday evenings.
Vanderbilt Recreation & Wellness Center (Rec Center): Exchange Students have access to the
fully equipped Rec Center with their student ID. Camping equipment rental is available.
Student Health Center: The student clinic is open 6 days a week during the semester. No fees
for routine office visits related to colds, allergies, sprains, etc. Services which involve lab work,
immunizations, medication, etc. will incur “at cost” charges.
Metro Transit Bus (MTA) – Students may use their school ID to ride the Nashville MTA Bus

If you want to drive in Tennessee after your first 30 days in the state you must obtain a TN
Driver’s License:
Can I Use My Foreign License or an International Driving Permit?
International individuals who will be in Tennessee for more than 30 days are considered
Tennessee residents for driving purposes and must apply for a Tennessee driver's license
within 30 days of arrival in the state. Applicants will be issued a Temporary License.
Please review Tennessee Driver Services and Temporary Driver License information
online for guidance on getting a TN state driver's license.
