Structural Control or Geological Association:
Fluorite occurs along northwest striking, southwest dipping pegmatite and quartz veins which cut leucocratic biotite quartz monzonite. The largest of the fluorite veins is exposed for 25 feet along strike and varies from 14" to 20" thick and occupies a sheared pegmatite vein. The vein occupies a fault zone and caliche has developed along the fault zone. It may be this caliche that led Elevatorski (1977) to report that the vein occurs in limestone. 2 The leucocratic biotite quartz monzonite in the area o·f the fluorite veins is partially altered to sericite, quartz, hematite and epidote. 4

, BLUE DAISY MINE MOHAVE COUNTY
HACKBERRY DIS T.
, i
Visited the Hackberry fluorspar deposit of Mr. and Mrs. Henry 0' Conner,
some 2 miles northerly from Hackberry. M~. 0' Cormor is in e)St,remely poor
health and Mrs. O'Connor has little knowledge of the mine operation. I
visited the claim alone, driving over a very rough jeep road to wi thin
several hundred yards of the fluorspar claim. The workings consist of a
longitudinal cut on the vein and 2 shallow shafts ' (8-10 1 deep) and several
pits, all showing purple and white fluorspar stringe~s up to 12" max:i.mum
width in a fault zone. The development is altogether too sketchy to permit
of, (
a satisfactory evaluation of the prospect, particularly since no sampling has been
done. TRAVIS P. LANE
