WHO WE AREGillies House is an abstinence-based alcohol and other drug recovery service. It is a residential facility, but is not a housing service.

We provide a supportive environment and evidence-based program conducive to recovery from alcohol and other drug addiction.

Unlike residential withdrawal and rehabilitation, we specialise in community-based recovery. This means those who are staying with us are free to come and go from the house according to their own individual recovery plans.

Gillies House accommodates up to six men in a shared environment who contribute to the running of the house by cooking their own meals, ensuring the house is kept clean and the garden is maintained.

WHAT WE DOWe support men in their transition from treatment for addictions back into the community. We support and empower their continued recovery process to become self-sufficient and lead productive lives.

HOW WE ASSISTWe tailor our services to meet each individual’s needs. Services include:

• One-on-one case management

• Relapse prevention

• Budgeting assistance

• Referrals to health services

• Vocational support: resume writing; training and education; volunteer work and accessing employment

• Referrals to government and non government agencies

• Advocacy

• Weekly SMART Recovery groups

• Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) meetings two nights per week.

WHO IS ELIGIBLEMales aged 18 years and over, who have completed an alcohol and other drug withdrawal and/or rehabilitation program.

Residents must be ‘recovery ready’ and highly motivated to participate in program activities, recovery activities (AA, NA, SMART Recovery etc.), training, study, volunteer work and/or employment.

DURATIONThe Gillies House service is for between three and six months.

After care is offered to those who would benefit from additional support.
