Conference Overview
This Advanced Clinical Esthetic Dentistry Program is designed to provide participating dentists with a combined didactic, laboratory, and live clinical experience in selected cosmetic areas. Practitioners will have the opportunity to use a variety of different materials and techniques in a mentored environment. The topics covered include anterior composite restorations, posterior composite restorations, indirect composite restorations, fiber reinforced bridges, temporization, home and in-office tooth bleaching, bonding, polishing, color, porcelain veneers, and crowns. After the lectures and laboratory experiences, the participants may, in some sessions, advance to the clinic where they will treat patients under the guidance of the program faculty.
SponsorsThe program is co-sponsored by the General Dentistry Program and Esthetic Dentistry Unit at the Eastman Institute for Oral Health/ Eastman Dental and the Upstate New York Affiliate of The American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry.
Schedule of eventsThe Clinical Esthetic Dentistry Program will convene on four Fridays and Saturdays in consecutive months in 2014: Jan. 24-25 Feb. 7-8, Feb. 28-March 1, and March 28-29. On Fridays, the program will be held from 1 pm to 9 pm and on Saturday, from 8 am to 6 pm.
Please note: Friday, March 1, and March 28 the hours will be 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m.
About the ProgramThe program will provide participating dentists with a thorough, hands-on understanding of specific treatment-centered areas. It is geared to train the practitioner in the evaluation of comparative materials and techniques. After completing this program, the participants should be able to immediately practice the new skills on their own. Brief, fast-paced, treatment-oriented lectures by leading clinicians introduce each subject area with a description of the clinical procedures and materials available. The
participants then have the opportunity to practice the specific techniques in a lab setting. Interested participants may then advance to the clinical setting, where patients are treated with over-the-shoulder assistance from the instructors. Since esthetic dental materials and techniques are in a constant state of evolution, training will not be limited to a single system or product.
