Content Page Analysis

Page 2: Content Page Analysis

Simple and easy to read layout. Font stays the same throughout and the colours are easy to read, not bright. Its not too crowded with lots of pictures and writing.

Large picture featuring ‘Oasis’ the main article this month in Q. Largest picture on the page, so all attention is on them.

Haven’t written down every page number and what on them, only the significant things.

The content is located on the left, which is common in most magazines and is far better than having writing all over the place also giving the magazine some order so its easy to find.

Can draw more buyers by it being a ‘Oasis Special’ also its written in gold, showing that they’re important to this moths issue.

A smaller feature on another artist that is in Q this month. It’s a smaller image and does not draw attention away from the main picture.

Issue and date

There is less important information featured at the bottom of the page, its also written like a content page

Smaller information on the bottom of the page, telling monthly readers their favourites are still there.

The word ‘Content’ stands out in white against the black background

Instead of using the usual ‘Content Page’ they have opted for ‘This Week’ by putting the date, the readers know the nest issue will be out next week.

By putting the font on to a black back ground, it stands out more. This is also used in on their front pages and content pages every week. Showing continuity.

NME have put a ‘band index’ on their content page so the readers can go to their desired article.

There is a piece from the main article, giving the readers an idea on who is featuring in this weeks NME magazine. Has the power to make the reader read on.

The subscription article at the bottom is totally different to the rest of the magazine, it stands out more and is does not feature the usual Red of the magazine.

They have sub headings for everything in the magazine, making it easier to locate what you want.

They also include having even smaller sub headings to the sub headings.

They have put something that could be new in an attention seeking style to draw people to it. They may feel it could be very popular.

By having the artist close up and looking directly at the reader, it makes it more personal. You want to know what more he has to say and why he is looking directly at the reader.

The graphic is signalling for you to turn the page over and read on.

They have used sub headings to make it more accessible and easier to find the desired piece. They have not written every single page number down as it would take up the whole page, they have picked out what they feel the viewers will most want to read about.

They have also included smaller sub headings to find where to go and have told you what is featured in the magazine every month so you can still see your favourite things.

They have included ‘The Lennon Issue’ which includes pictures and the last 24 hours of his life which those who are big fans will want to see

Although James Blunt is seen as the main article, he is only mentioned second on the content list, which by judging from the large picture, he’d be first.

Having Q’s logo and ‘232 CONTENTS NOV05’ gives the reader an indication of what they are reading and gives them an idea on when the next issue will be out.
