On behalf of me and my colleagues the board of directors, it gives me great pleasure
in presenting the annual report for the year 2017.
Since its establishment as part of the development of the capital market infrastructure
in the State of Qatar, Qatar Central Securities Depository has made extensive efforts
to develop and support the Qatari financial market by safekeeping and managing of
investors’ securities and providing the best services to the market and investors
through the use of the best and latest technologies.
The company was awarded with ISO 9001: 2008 certification by the British Standards
Institution (BSI), which confirms the company's commitment to providing services in
accordance with international standards.
On this occasion, we would like to reiterate the company's continued performance
and excellence in providing services to all investors, companies and individuals and
to serve the capital market in the State of Qatar.

I am pleased to welcome you and offer you my sincere greetings and appreciation
through the annual report which includes the data and statistics accomplished by the
company during the year 2017.
Qatar Central Securities Depository (QCSD) was established to develop the
infrastructure of the Qatari capital market and the separation of the supervisory role of
the executive role and in line with the vision of the State of Qatar 2030.
Since its opening on January 2, 2014, QCSD's efforts have been based on the
implementation of its strategy to develop various aspects of its business to make it
more capable of achieving its objectives.
In order to keep up with the latest developments in the direction of a better future, the
company has carried out several important projects that have a positive impact on the
development of infrastructure and providing the best services to members and
investors. The most important projects and services are Replacing the company's
existing system with a new system as the company is replacing its current systems of
post-trading operations with a new and advanced system using the latest technology
available. The company is also launching the new website, which provides many
electronic services to investors such as the possibility of free registration in the
service of electronic statement of account, news service, communication service and
can effectively adapt to all types of devices with different degrees of screen
resolution.
As part of its efforts to follow the latest technologies adopted, the company is
launching its mobile services through the development of mobile applications to
facilitate the services to the investor, including following the developments of his
portfolio and the portfolio of accounts linked to his account by date as well as his
trades (selling and buying). In addition, the company intends to launch a cash
dividend distribution project in cooperation with listed shareholding companies and
banks operating in the country. The infrastructure and electronic systems required to
implement this project are being processed. QCSD has also launched the Call
Center service, which responds to all customer inquiries 24/7 in order to
communicate with its customers and complete their transactions with ease and
pleasure.
QCSD has taken all necessary measures to implement the decision of not to
suspend the shareholding companies from trading on the date of the General
Assemblies as of 1/1/2018 pursuant to the new procedures issued by the Qatar
Financial Markets Authority. The shareholders registered in the Company's records
on the day of the General Assembly meeting will be entitled to attend and vote, and
will also be entitled to cash dividends and free shares. In addition to launching the
system of requesting the shareholders files of the joint stock companies through the
provision of secure electronic portal that facilitates to listed companies to request the
files of the shareholders, where the system started from 01/01/2018.
QCSD seeks to move forward with the implementation of many projects and future
ideas through the integration of the parties of the stock markets in the country, we
hope that the year 2018 will be full of achievements and goals.

Qatar Central Securities Depository
Qatar Central Securities Depository (QCSD) established by the Qatar Central Bank
(QCB) as part of the reforms for the financial market infrastructure in the state of
Qatar. It has been established for the purpose of risk minimization in post trade
settlements and reduce conflict of interest. QCSD is the only company licensed by
Qatar Financial Market Authority (QFMA) to provide this services.
Central Security Depositories are of great importance because of their active role
in risk management which reflects positively on the economy and strengthens the
confidence of the investors and shareholders.
The rights issue registration
Qatar Central Securities Depository Company (QCSD) has successfully
completed the rights issue registration for Doha Bank during 2017.
Increased the foreigners’ ownership limit
Qatar Central Securities Depository has increased the foreigners’
ownership limit of Islamic Holding Group to be 49% of the capital, which is
equal to (2,775,154) shares, Vodafone Qatar Company to be 49% of the
capital , which is equal to (414,246,000) shares.
Deposit of the new subscribed shares
Qatar Central Securities Depository has deposited into the investors’
accounts the new subscribed shares of the Commercial Bank the new
capital is (3,854,527,390) QR, the new total shares is (385,452,739), of
Doha Bank, have been deposited into the investors’ accounts. The new
capital is (3,100,467,020) QR, the new total shares are (310,046,702).
Deposit of the bonus shares
Qatar Central Securities Depository has deposited the bonus shares of
Qatar National Bank, the new capital is (9,236,428,570) QR and the new
total shares is (923,642,857), the bonus shares of Qatar Insurance
company, the new capital is (2,773,094,570) QR and the new total shares
is (277,309,457), Qatar National Cement Company, the new capital is
(653,528,940) QR and the new total shares is (65,352,894) in addition to
the bonus shares of Qatar Fuel Company, the new capital is
(994,255,760) QR and the new total shares is (99,425,576), the bonus
shares of Al Ahli Bank, the new capital is (2,003,432,710) QR and the
new total shares is (200,343,271) and the bonus shares of The
Commercial Bank, the new capital is (4,047,253,750) QR and the new
total shares is (404,725,375).Also the bonus shares of Mazaya Qatar
Real Estate Development Company, the new capital is (1,157,625,000)
QR and the new total shares is (115,762,500).
QCSD Hosted Students from PAK Shamaa School
As part of its moral obligations to provide knowledge on capital markets,
QCSD hosted students from Pak Shamaa School.Students from Business
Studies section of the PAK Shamaa School visited QCSD on Thursday 02-
Mar-2017 for an educational tour.The purpose of the visit was to have
information on the role of the depository in the capital market. Around 30
students were accompanied by teachers from the school.The students
were provided with the basic and additional information on capital markets
and the role and scope of the depository in form of presentation.At the end
of the presentation, there was a Q&A session wherein all doubts which the
students had were responded.Finally, they were presented with a tour to
customer service to have a feel of the practical aspects of the actual CSD
operations.
The registration of Investment Holding Group
Qatar Central Securities Depository Company (QCSD) completed the
registration of Investment Holding Group.
Call Centre:
In order to effectively interact with its customers and provide better and prompt
services, QCSD succeeded in operating a call center in 2017
Not to stop listed companies from trading on the AGM day
QCSD has been able to start implementing the non-stop of listed companies from
trading on the day of the General Assembly meeting as of 01/01/2018.
Replacement some of its systems:
QCSD is under way to replace its existing post trade operations systems.
IT Infrastructure:
Another critical strategy which will be executed in line with the system replacement
is the setting up of IT infrastructure including servers, networking, data center, etc.
Mobile Apps solution:
A mobile solution will be developed to provide investors e-services through apps
(Apple (iPhone) and Android) in 2018.
Cash Dividends Distribution:
With the cooperation of the listed companies and banks operating in Qatar, QCSD
intend to develop the project of cash dividends distribution. The infrastructure and
electronic systems required to implement this project are being processed.
