Course Overview This course is ideally suited to students who are interested in the arts, Film/Television Industry, communication, and society. The course looks at the ways in which the media are influential in society, and how students can contribute positively as both consumers and creators of media products. This course works with students’ strengths in writing, design, research, and uses their existing experiences with the media. There is a strong focus on filmmaking, as students will write a script, shoot, and produce a film. This will involve creative and critical thinking, as well as the ability to problem solve. Students will have a go at editing in Adobe Premiere Pro, so some familiarity with Adobe suites would be beneficial but not a requirement to take this course. Students will learn that in all walks of life, some knowledge of how to deal with the media is essential.

Course Overview This course continues to develop the mathematical skills and understanding from the previous year's work. This course includes new concepts such as Probability Distributions. This course will continue to develop your problem solving and logical thinking skills, which are needed to be able to solve unfamiliar practical and mathematical problems. This course covers all the strands of Mathematics Number, Measurement, Geometry, Algebra, Statistics and Mathematical Processes. The course will be accessed by internal assessment. Course Overview This course has a strong emphasis on developing knowledge and skills about positive parenting, child development, child-rearing practices and communication skills. Students have the opportunity to explore a variety of careers such as teaching, early childhood education, midwifery, nanny work, social work and nursing. During this course students are assessed by completing unit standards at level two from the following possibilities. A number of the units are provided and moderated by the Royal NZ Plunket Society. Course Overview The idea behind this course is to target students who have an interest in being active and getting fit. For some it might be because they have a strong interest in the Sport & Fitness industry, Military or other Public Services. For others this may be the catalyst for them to start thinking about their own physical wellbeing, getting more active and reaping the benefits. It is also an avenue for students who play sport and want to learn more about getting fit for their sport and becoming a more competitive player on the sports field. Students will be encouraged to develop knowledge and skills that will lead them to be more resourceful, self-reliant and responsible. This is a practical based course with opportunities to develop relationships with the Rotorua Police, Rotorua Fire Services, and local gym businesses.

Course Overview This course is designed to guide students to realising their creative potential and confidence through Fine Arts practices, using a variety of painting, drawing and image making processes and materials. Course Overview The Primary ITO Trade Academy is a unique partnership between Rotorua Lakes High, Primary ITO, and primary industry employers. Blending classroom study with on-job learning and one day per week industry placement in Year 12. Students specialise in an area of the Primary ITO and complete standards in that Industry’s chosen discipline.
