The certifying body, which in Germany has the responsibility for developing the technical regula- tions for water and gas distribution, for promoting research and education, for carrying out examina- tions and tests and for issuing certifications, issued a new certification to FRA.BO regarding the product FRABOPRESS SECURFRABO – the press-fitting system for copper and bronze for thermo hydraulic installations used both for water and gas applications. This second certification, in addition to the one already issued to FRABO in May 2015 after a long legal battle, certifies that the full range of FRABOPRESS SECURFRABO products is compliant with all regulations. In particular, DVGW verified that SECURFRABO seal – suitable both for water and gas distribution – has the right features for both applications. FRABOPRESS SECURFRABO is a set of copper and bronze press fittings for thermo hydraulic installations with copper pipes, suitable for gas and water installations equally. The system has been tested and inspected for all gas, water and heating applications and is suitable for a wide range of uses in the construction and industrial engineering indus- tries. The certifying body, which in Germany has the responsibility for developing the technical regula-tions for water and gas distribution, for promoting research and education, for carrying out examina-tions and tests and for issuing certifications, issued a new certification to FRA.BO regarding the product FRABOPRESS SECURFRABO – the press-fitting system for copper and bronze for thermo hydraulic installations used both for water and gas applications.
This second certification, in addition to the one already issued to FRABO in May 2015 after a long legal battle, certifies that the full range of FRABOPRESS SECURFRABO products is compliant with all regulations. In particular, DVGW verified that SECURFRABO seal – suitable both for water and gas distribution – has the right features for both applications.

DVGW declared that FRABOPRESS SECURFRABO passed all the tests with complete satisfac-tion of the testing institute. The certification has been obtained after compliance tests, according to general regulatory requirements and to DVGW CERT GmbH regulations. With this certification, re-quirements related to security, hygiene and environmental protection have been fulfilled.
When we asked FRABO in 2015 in which countries they are selling their products, the answered: "FRABO is constantly investing abroad, also overseas, however, without neglecting the important Italian market. The export business makes up 60 % of the turnover, and the trend is upward. The company goes on investing in order to consolidate all existing markets and to open new ones for FRABO. The products are sold in more than 30 countries. In Western and Northern Europe, besides Italy, these are: France, Spain, Portugal, Sweden, Denmark, Finland, Belgium, Luxemburg, the Baltic States and Greece. The main markets in Eastern Europe are: Slovenia, Slovakia, the Czech Repub-lic, Poland, Croatia, Serbia, Macedonia, Bosnia, Albania, Hungary and Bulgaria. The overseas mar-kets are the USA and India. FRABO plans to open up new markets, too."
But FRABO set further objectives. In 2016 they want to begin, then, with the real prospect of ex-panding its presence in a strategic market like Germany. The company aims also to support the production – that includes 25 product categories and 5.000 items made of 6 different materials – and to increase investments for the renovation of the structure. In 2016 FRA.BO will invest more than 10% of its turnover in the new productive site, whose renovation started in 2015, an activity that includes also the requalification of the old building, the building of a new warehouse and the pur-chase of new machinery.

Giacomini showcased the GX System (Giacomini eXpansion System) with PE-Xb pipes with increased thickness at last year’s ISH in Frankfurt, Germany. This fitting system works through compression by memory effect after expansion.

Quick & Easy (Q&E)® and ProPEX® systems with PE-Xa pipe – some of their related patents expired in 2014 – and the AC-FIX PLASTIC RING "Shrink-Fit” System of the Spanish company Global Piping Systems. GX system (Giacomini eXpansion System): Distribution system in diameters from 16 to 40mm for sanitary water and heating/cooling systems, both traditional and radiant, consist-ing in PEX-b pipes and brass fittings with a seal guaranteed by a polymeric ring; piping in high-thickness PE-Xb (PN10), red colour: 16x2,2 (100m), 20x2,8 (100m), 25x3,5 (50m), 32x4,4 (50m) and 40x5,5 (4m bars). The sys-tem's water-tightness and reliability over its entire lifetime are guaranteed by the shape memory of its plastic components and the fittings' specific design.
Technical features - GX connection: In order to create system connections, the GX system relies on the memory of the plastic materials of its components, maximising their performance thanks to the special profile of the fitting. The gradual expansion of the pipe coupled with the ring enables installers to insert the fitting, which is very quickly clamped into position by the force generated while the poly-mer components shrink back to their original shape. At the end of the procedure, the joint has better mechanical characteristics compared to those of individual pipe.

During the BIG 5, the most important exhibition of Gulf Area for building products arranged at "Dubai World Trade Center" in November 2015, ITAP showcased its product range with focus on the EUROPRESS pressure reducing valve and SIX-WAY VALVE.

EUROPRESS® pressure reducing valve works up to a maximum upstream pressure of 25 bar and it is possible to adjust the downstream pressure between 1 and 5,5 bar. The maximum working temperature is 80°C. The new 6-way motorized ball valve has attracted the attention of many visitors at the BIG 5 in Dubai, since it is able to replace up to four 2-way motorized ball valves. It is easy to imagine the saving in term of time and money in case of use of such valve, if compared to traditional installation of 2-way valves.

ing in PIPE2000 Ltd - one of the longest serving customers of Brugg Pipesystems.
Brugg’s manufacturing history dates back to 1896. The group consists of 5 divisions (pipe systems, cable sys-tems, rope technology, process control systems and real estate) with over 2,000 employees and a global turnover in excess of 650 million CHF in 2014.
Brugg Pipesystems has factories in Switzerland and Germany with over 400 employees and turnover of over 160 million CHF. Brugg flexible and rigid, pre-insulated or safety pipe systems are used in many sectors of the con-struction industry.

Uponor’s improved Performance supported by North America in 2015

Financial statements bulletin 2015: Uponor’s improved performance supported by North America and pick-up in Europe in the fourth quarter 2015. Uponor's 2015 consolidated net sales from continuing operations amounted to €1,050.8 (2014: €1,023.9) million, up 2.6% year-on-year.
KWD-globalpipe, 22.02.2016. In general, construction activity in Uponor’s markets remained subdued during 2015, with no significant growth from the previous year. Although construction accelerated markedly in a few
key markets, such as the USA, the Netherlands and Sweden, most markets showed few signs of noteworthy recovery from their already constrained levels of economic activity.
Building Solutions – Europe’s net sales declined by -2.5%, reflecting the weak performance in the first three quarters of the year. Notwithstanding the short-term pick-up in demand in the last two months of the year, European markets have generally re-mained flat, with Sweden and the Netherlands standing out as the few brighter spots. The strength of the fourth quarter 2015 was supported by mild weather especially in northern Europe, some pre-stocking among customers, as well as the timing of commercial projects in Germany.
Building Solutions – North America: Through a series of manufacturing expansions over recent few years, Building Solutions – North America has been able to sustain sturdy net sales growth over a lengthy period of time, and 2015 was no exception. Due to currency changes, reported net sales in euro were particularly strong. Net sales developed healthily in the U.S., driven by the plumbing busi-ness in particular. Thanks to a strong final quarter, the Canadian business also posted growth, mainly driven by significant new product innovations in the indoor climate segment of the market.
Uponor Infra’s net sales for 2015 saw a clear decline, a bit over half of which originated in the di-vested Thai and Extron business units, which had combined net sales in 2014 of €28.6 million. The segment’s continuing net sales decline was mainly driven by weak development in Poland + Canada.
Sales by product areas: Within the business groups, the share of Plumbing Solutions represented 45% (39%), Indoor Climate Solutions 25% (27%), while Infrastructure Solutions represented 30% (34%) of Group net sales.
The largest 10 countries, in terms of reported net sales, and their respective share of consolidated net sales, were as follows (2014 figures in brackets): the USA 23.9% (17.6%), Germany 13.0% (13.9%), Finland 11.8% (13.2%), Sweden 8.9% (9.2%), Canada 7.9% (8.2%), Denmark 4.5% (4.7%), the Netherlands 3.5% (3.1%), the United Kingdom 3.4% (3.5%), Norway 2.9% (3.6%), and Spain 2.8% (2.8%).

Short-term outlook: No major changes in outlook are in prospect in Uponor's key geographic areas. Economic trends are likely to continue in a similar manner to the last two years, i.e. North America continuing to experience lively economic growth, while Europe struggles with stagnant economies and lack of growth drivers. Overall, the Asian markets, which remain of marginal importance to Up-onor, are expected to perform at their current levels, but economic trends there may change unex-pectedly, posing a risk to global market developments.
