different hues and tints of yellow. Children were not only beautifully dressed in their favorite yellow dresses
but also brought yellow objects to make it a complete “Yellow Day”! Tiffins were filled with bananas,
custard, jelly, lemons, mangoes, pineapples etc. A garden with paper sunflowers was also set up in the KG
classes. The teachers were beaming with pride when the confident little commentators described the yellow
objects with expression and flair. Focusing on the theme the teachers planned art and collage activities and
their artwork was displayed on the soft boards. To make the children understand about the significance of
the colour yellow, various colorful activities including drawing, colouring, origami paper craft etc. were
conducted in a lively, vibrant and high - spirited environment. Cheerful Children attired in yellow outfits
were sparkling with optimism and happiness. Beams of yellow carried the promise of a positive future
flashing creative thoughts in the young minds. The motive of celebrating this yellow colour day was to make
the children aware of the colour, its significance and to develop fine motor skills in the students. Yellow- the
colour of wisdom and intellectual energy had a positive influence on our tiny tots.

The medieval period of
Indian history was
vibrantly recreated by
the students of grade
VII, through their
presentations on
political, social,
economic and cultural
aspects of the past. They
enthusiastically made
models of architecture,
scrap books and dynasty
charts. The creativity of
the students was at its
peak in the activity "My
Story: My Words"
where they came
dressed up as great men
and women of the past
and highlighted their
achievements and
failures.. Overall it was
a pleasure to see the
students deeply involved
in bringing back the
glorious past to life.
INNOVATIVE CLASSES
SOCIAL STUDIES
Area and Perimeter are very important terms while dealing with mathematics. In sync with this students
were shown an interactive video to understand how to calculate the area and perimeter of plane figures.
INNOVATIVE CLASSES - MATHEMATICS
The topic symmetry was introduced through a colouring activity in which they drew
symmetrical patterns using poster colours. The activity helped the students to explore their
creative skills and imagination through various symmetrical designs
Students were shown an informative video on Area and Volume to deepen their understanding of the concept. They
learnt different terms such as 1D, 2D shapes, 3D figures, area, volume and units of measurement of area and
volume. The students enjoyed watching the video and enthusiastically participated in the doubt clarification session
related to the topic.
INNOVATIVE CLASSES - Kindergarten
Students of Kindergarten enjoyed making a snowman and brought cold chilly snowflakes a la cotton swabs in
their art files. Moreover, January is usually cold enough to build snowmen and is therefore a perfect chance
to celebrate the International Snowman day. Students also enjoyed dancing to the tune of the animals of the
Arctic regions. With all their groovy moves, they won the hearts of all!
Exploring Adaptations!
The students of grade VI and VII explored and researched on biodiversity found in various regions
around the world. They represented various ecosystems through interesting role – play activities,
excellent models and descriptive charts. This activity taught them the virtue of team work and working in
collaboration.

A story writing activity that paved the way for the children of Grade V to pen down their
thoughts and feelings in a new and spontaneous way. Reflection, creativity and self -
expression are the hallmarks of meaningful writing. The group work strengthened their
decision - making skills and enabled them to formulate their own point of view.
Children enjoyed developing their own stories. As said by William Faulkner- "If a story
is in you, it has got to come out."
The children of grade 5 participated wholeheartedly in a quick interactive activity,
which reinforced their understanding and knowledge of synonyms. In the activity, the
children were divided into two groups with each group having one set of words. Both the
groups were handed the challenge of word scavenging for such similar pairs within a
prescribed time limit. It was a fun as well as a meaningful experience for them.
Mathematics DAY
“Math gives us every reason to hope that every problem has a solution”.
In an effort to lay a strong foundation of Mathematics among the students, DPS sector-84 celebrated
Math Day on 31st January 2020.The importance of Mathematics has never been greater than now
and for the foreseeable future. Training students to become adept users of Mathematics and to
appreciate its usefulness is of paramount importance for the future. Students who participated in
various activities displayed spirited enthusiasm, absorbing information and enjoying the stimulating
exercise of the mind. To encourage young learners to get involved, to dispel Math phobia and to
create a love for the subject, to perceive the connection of mathematical concepts with real life
situations, were the primary objectives of the Math Day celebrations. Math Day was held from
Grades I to IX.
Grade I kids enjoyed ‘Shopping with paper money’ where they learn the concept of buying and
selling also. Grade II enjoyed the activity ‘Our World in Shapes’ using geometrical figures. Students
of Grade III participated in Tangram activity, consisting of 5/7 geometric pieces, a popular
mathematical problem solving activity to bring out the best in pupils. Grade IV created beautiful
patterns using Tessellation Kit. Grades VI participated in an activity ‘Compass Art’ wherein they

COUNSELLING SESSIONS
Exams are around the corner! Grades V to IX are going to utilize the month of
February to prepare for their final examinations. Spiderman’s wise Aunt May
once said – ‘With great power comes great responsibility.’ For our young
students the responsibility of doing well in the exams brings forth a plethora of
competitiveness, a sense of efficiency and a healthy dose of stress. All these are
necessary to do well – but just as superheroes need the help of capes and special
powers so do our young exam warriors.
The school has organized counselling sessions for all grades (V – IX) to combat
exam stress in the best possible manner and we at DPS 84 hope that they will
emerge not only with flying colours but also with dollops of patience and
wisdom to tackle everything that is thrown their way after these interactive
sessions!
Thank you
