BOARD TO CONSIDER HOLDING SEPARATE ASE EDUCATIONAL MEETING
ASE's Board of Directors is considering holding a separate educational meeting for the Society, apart from the meetings held in conjunction with the American College of Cardiology and American Heart Association Scientific Sessions.
A questionnaire to help the Board determine if the membership is interested in attending a separate meeting was mailed with your 1988-1989 membership directory in July. If you have not already returned the questionnaire, please do so immediately. The Board of Directors needs this information by its meeting date, the second week in November. Results of the questionnaire will help the Board members determine the length, time of year, frequency, and format of such a meeting.
SELF-TEST OFFERED IN WASHINGTON, D.C.
ASE will offer two self-tests in ~e exhibit area during the American Heart Association Scientific Sessions, November 14-17, 1988, Washington Convention Center, Washington, D.C.
You will find the booth number in your American Heart Association program. Only a limited number of people can take the test at one time. Time slots generally are available on Monday.
For the first time ASE will have a professionally designed and built booth. The booth, done in the blue colors associated with the Society, is expected to attract more people to take the self-test and learn about membership benefits.
The video self-test will feature two-dimensional, Doppler, color flow Doppler, and transesophageal echocardiography. A second self-test, recorded on an interactive laser disk, will provide a more in-depth educational experience.
September-October 1988
Staff will be giving the self-tests Monday, November 14, from 8 AM to 5: 30 PM; Tuesday and Wednesday, November 15 and 16, from 9 AM to 5:30 PM; and Thursday, November 17, from 9 AM
to 12:30 PM.
The self-tests were developed by the ASE SelfAssessment Committee, chaired by Nelson B. Schiller, MD, University of California Medical Center, San Francisco.
REVISED EDUCATIONAL OUUINE AVAILABLE FROM ASE
The third edition of the Educational Outline for EchocardiographYJ covering echocardiography and Doppler echocardiography, is now available from the American Society of Echocardiography.
This updated edition may be ordered with the publications order form in this issue or the form below. Price of the outline, which is 150 pages (spiralbound), is $15.00 for members and $20.00 for nonmembers.
The outline is intended to serve as a guideline for review for students and instructors in echocardiography. Its use presumes a fundamental knowledge of the basics of this diagnostic technique. You may want a copy for your institution's library, as well as a personal copy.
September-October 1988
Clinical seqions are organized according to specific diseases, th~lr fundamental pathophysiology, primary and secondary echocardiographic findings (M-mode, two-dimensional, and Doppler), correlativeinformation from other diagnostic approaches, and technical aspects for the examination procedure.
Cochairs of this third edition are Carolyn Janko Gardner, RDMS, University Hospital, University of Washington, Seattle; and Susan Brown,BS, RDMS, St. Mary's Medical Center, Long Beach, Calif.
