This coloring book page has some nice line weight. Notice the heavy lines

used to show the folds in the fabric

of the cape or the smaller, thin lines in the hair.

In this contour portrait

thicker lines are used in areas where there is more

shadow– under the nose for example.

Notice the depth and

detail achieved just using line. The outer edge of the hand is darker while the fine lines and wrinkles are smaller and lighter.

In this still life the objects

closest to the viewer are darker and fatter while things in the background

are considerably

lighter.
