AboutTRUFAWelcometoTheThompsonRiversUniversityFacultyAssociation(TRUFA).TheAssociationwascertifiedasthecollectivebargainingagentforfacultyonFebruary12,1974.Asthefacultybargainingagent,TRUFAhasa

IftheemployerdoesnotsubmitanROEwithinashortperiodoftimeafteryourcontractexpires,pleasecontactTRUHumanResourcesdirectlyat250.828.5466orHumanResources@tru.ca.Willmyperformancebeevaluated?Contractfacultymembers'performanceissubjecttoreviewtoestablishrightoffirstrefusal(ROFR)whenmeetingqualificationsforthejobfor:1)Sessionalfacultyforsubstantiallythesamework(course)deemedassuchbythedepartmentinthesubsequentacademicyear(seeCollectiveAgreementarticle5.2.5.2).Thismeansthatasessionalfacultymemberwhohasundergonesuccessfulreviewonacourseorequivalentwork,willhavetherighttobeappointedtoteachthesame(orequivalent)courseinthesubsequentacademicyearifthisworkisavailable.IfnoPerformanceReview(PR)isdoneforasessionalfacultymemberaftertheinitialappointment,thefacultymembergetsaprobationaryROFR.Ifthesessionalfacultymembercompletessubstantiallythesameworkfortwosemesterswithouttheirperformancehavingbeenevaluated,theygetautomaticROFR.SessionalPRsarebasedonclassvisitations,studentquestionnaires,andanyotherrelevantinformation.2)LimitedTermContract(LTC)facultymembersinthefinalyearoftheircontract(seeCollectiveAgreementarticle5.2.4.2).ThismeansthatanLTCfacultymemberwhohasundergonesuccessfulreviewhastherighttobeofferedasubsequentcontractifTRUoffersacontractinthesameprogram.Thusthepositionwouldnotbepostedforcompetition.LTCPRsarebasedonAPARs,classvisitations,studentquestionnaires,performanceinservicerole,scholarship(fortripartiteappointments),andanyotherrelevantinformation.Pleaseseearticle7oftheCollectiveAgreementfordetailsonthisprocess.TRUFArunsPerformanceReviewworkshopsyearlyduringthefallsemester,weencourageyoutoattendtogetfurtherinformation.
