Lets understand the Extension better

Mazda has construction work happening at their site day and night as their completion date is very near. To finish the project on time, the employees are working for almost 19hrs and machineries are also continuously working. One of the machines during this time suddenly breaks down and the repair of the machine will take much time. Hence Mazda decides to call for another similar machine. Now who will bear the air freight charges?

Page 8: CONTRACTORS PLANT & MACHINERY INSURANCE Presentation

88

The Air freight charges will be borne by the Insurance company, if the insured has opted for it as an extension to the standard policy.

Example for Escalations:

You have a property of 1 lac and you have Insured this property for the same amount. Now due to inflation your property rate goes higher, from 1 lac to 1.25 lac. This means that now your property is under insuredHence to avoid this underinsurance escalations are used where the premium keeps increasing forthe insured as per the current market value
