Convention of an opening sequence Slow paced editing is used in most opening sequences in order to give the audience a clearer view to where the film is based and what characters are included in it. It gives the viewer a chance to take everything in about the opening sequence. An example of when this is used is in the film Panic Room’s opening sequence. The film has a lot of slow-paced editing and establishing shots in it.
