Challenges what did the plumbing industry want?
• Developing an online system that caters for older computer and internet connections
• To develop an online training platform for plumbing industry practitioners to use 24/7. (who don’t enjoy reading slabs of text)
• Making the training system easy to use for people with minimal PC and online training skills
• Technical Issues – eg. linking powerpoint slide presentation formats with voice over in elluminate. the association had already purchase elluminate, however was only really used for interstate meetings, and internal staff training
Project – learning experience methodology
• Easy to use environment• Easy to update content (as new regulations / technology emerge)• Utilise elluminate for ongoing communication, and specific live
sessions • Reduced reading (voice over / powerpoint slide presentations)
Final design incorporated;
internet based access“small” easy to load sections(sections on technology and state regulations / varitations)powerpoint content and recorded voice overmanufacturers installation videosgovernment links to regulations & rebates assessment model (incl. test bank questions and critical
stop points through units for activities and assignments)
Successes so far…
• Designing an online platform and integrating this into the associations existing website and internal systems
• Designing an “online training experience” that is easy to use for the plumbing industry, with the platform capabilities to be easily expanded in the future for additional units / courses / assessment and new information to be included.
• Pilot group(s) and other plumbing practitioners initial feedback has been very positive;
• Accessed / interest from a number of Australian states and other countries incl. USA & NZ.
• Plumbers accessing other resources online, and requesting additional training.

Installation Videos
• 30sec – 2 minutes duration – to enable faster download times
• Various sections covered• Actual manufacturer material
Design and Installation of Environmentally Sustainable Plumbing Practices
Assessment
• Learning activities throughout training
• Specific questions after topics / sessions (critical stop points)
• Formal assessment questionnaire at the end of the topics
• Formal assessment consists of
True & falseMultiple choiceand written
answers
Formal assessment is automatically marked for True & false and Multiple choice questions. Instant feedback for students on these questions
Written answers need to be individually marked by online trainer / assessor. Assessor will mark assessment and email / notify students of final assessment result.
