Giving Back to Those Who Give

For our project we cooked for two firefighting stations on two separate days

What We Did?

We made LASAGNA and MEATBALLS YUMM

This Lasagna took a lot of hard work to make!

We had so much to do. The cooking was fun tough.

Critical Thinking? In Cooking?

Well, we did need to use our critical thinking skills to chose which fire stations we should serve. We had many choices, but it all dwindled down to two because of the personal experiences people in the group had with the fire stations. We also had to use our skills when we forgot how the layering went on the Lasagna. We had to see what we already put on, and what everyone knew they put on. Then by process of elimination we figured out what layer we had to do next.

Cooking isn’t serviceable

Actually, cooking is a service. We spent at least 5 hours baking each Lasagna.

We spent quite a while just layering the lasagna!

We also had to take the food to the Firefighters. It was great to see them become happy when someone actually cared about them and what they do!

Happy Firefighters

We gave back to local people who are helping other local people.

Firefighters have saved so many lives, but often get little in return.

They volunteer their time just to help everyday people.

They are out society’s Hero's!

What did I LEARN?

Many firefighters volunteer their time to be part of a crew.

Fire stations only contain stuff that people buy or donate.

Firefighters need to buy their own food. If they are out of money they are SOL.

There is always one person in a fire station to take the calls in case they get two emergencys at once.

I LEARNED MORE!

Lasagna is good if you use the right ingredients.

It is possible to work with someone you have never really talked to and pull off a good service project.

Firefighters are really nice people!
