A huge thank you to parents for contributing in lots of different ways. Let’s hope it will be a busy and successful event! Work Roster as follows:-
BaconFest organisers have advised that vendor tents at Little Piggies are situated against a wall and are thus in full shade. They have advised that it’s likely to be chilly for the vendors – please be aware re layering up! Also closed in shoes are required. Additionally, for our set-up crew, our entry point to “Lard Lane” is Gate B on Youngman Street (opposite McDonald’s) – this is the first driveway to the back of the Town Hall (near the Bottle-O).
Any students who have yet to complete their Reading Log are able to bring it in on Monday.
Ms Debbie Hails visited this week and spoke very positively about the school’s continuing high reading standard across the year levels. The number of readers on track, or above, is high compared to many other schools in the region. Thanks to our staff, parents and students for their great work. She was also interested in our structures and processes around curriculum planning, data collection and use.
Ariah and her team are happy to announce that the collection of plastic bottle tops can now begin. Suitable tops are flat soft drink, water or milk bottle tops, including those from long life containers. These tops should be numbered No 2 or No 4 in the recycled triangle. 3 drop off points are available around the school. All students have been informed of these locations.
The collection bag is ready to collect bottles & cans. All items are to be put in the large collection bag at the rear of the Library. They can be dropped off at any time. Please keep the area tidy.
Included with the newsletter is your copy of the school’s Growth Mindset Parent Guide. This guide is designed to be a practical guide to understanding the basics of the Growth Mindset or positive mindset, in order to help all of us develop a more positive approach to learning and life in general. It will be very handy for you when talking to your children and be a place to find strategies or things to say to your children. The students are already showing signs of their understanding and early application of strategies. The language of positive mindset is powerful. Better resilience enables all of us to deal with the highs and lows of our busy lives – children, parents and in all workplaces. Beware of fixed mindsets that get in our way eg. – I can’t do this and I will never be able to / I’m no good at writing / I am always an A students in maths or my child always gets A’s in maths. If they achieve at that level they will. This week’s Prep presentation to the school was an important message to us all. A positive attitude says “ I can’t do that YET, but I will be able to if I keep trying.” Isn’t this the case with lots of aspects of our lives? Could we ride a bike straight away? No, but we kept on going until we could. We hope you find this document useful.
Thank you to all of those who have already completed and returned your Parent/Caregiver Survey. If you have not had a chance to complete the survey yet, please note that the survey is due by TODAY Friday, 23 Au-gust 2019. Today is your last opportunity to provide feedback about what our school does well and how we can improve to help shape our school’s
future.
