Take the 5000-Hour

First Lady Ylawnda Peebles recently announced a 5000-Hour Volunteer Challenge. The initiative is designed to encourage people throughout the Washington D.C. metro area to make a positive impact by volunteering in their communities. First Lady Peebles and Pastor Joel Peebles have logged tens of thousands of hours volunteering over the last two

decades and know the impact that a helping hand can lend.

“Mark 10:45 teaches us that even the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve,” said First Lady Peebles. “Serving others is a founding principle of The City of Praise Church. Bishop James Peebles and Apostle Betty Peebles dedicated their lives to serving others. This volunteer challenge honors their legacy.” The City of Praise Church will partner with charitable organizations throughout the region that could use a helping hand. The first volunteer day will be held in April. The success towards accomplishing the 5000-Hour Volunteer Challenge will be tracked on The City of Praise Church Website – http://www.cityofpraisechurch.com.

“I am excited to see the powerful impact that this effort will have on our community,” said Pastor Peebles. “I know that in our wildest imagination, we can’t comprehend the amazing things that can be accomplished when God’s people are mobilized to do good work.”

For more information about upcoming volunteer opportunities, email [email protected].

Take the 5000-Hour Volunteer Challenge

1 - Lion’s Roar

As each one has received a special gift, employ it in serving one another, as good stewards of the manifold grace of God. Whoever speaks, let him speak, as it were, the utterances of God; whoever serves, let him do so as by the strength which God supplies; so that in all things God may be glorified through Jesus Christ, to whom belongs the glory and domin-

ion forever and ever. - 1 Peter 4:10-11

Volunteer Challenge

He said to them, “Go into all the world and preach

the good news to all creation.” Mark 16:15

Jericho Residences A Vision and a Victory

Easter Bible Trivia Challenge

Great news came at the beginning of the year when Pastor Joel Peebles announced that the Jericho Residences, a senior living facility, successfully secured a $30 Million loan neces-sary to protect the long-term financial integrity of the thriving property. Pastor Peebles serves as President of the Jericho Residences Board of Directors. The late Apostle Betty

Peebles appointed Pastor Peebles to his position of authority on the board. Under his leadership, the state of the art facility, which boasts 273 apartments, operates at better than 90% of capacity.“I am very pleased that we can announce the closing and stabilization of the loan financing for this amazing facility,” said Pastor Peebles. “This is another step in facilitating the vision of my Dad and Mom, Bishop James and Apostle Betty Peebles. It also furthers their vision to continue the expansion of The City of Praise.”“This day comes as a great blessing,” said Jericho Residences Board Member Trenillo Walters. “Our pastor Joel Peebles has shown excellent leadership as we have worked to navigate this loan in the mist of a troubled economic climate.” Jericho Residences located on The City of Praise Church campus in Landover, Md. offers seniors assisted living as well as independent living options. Onsite amenities include a commercial kitchen and dining area, a barbershop and salon, a chapel, a theatre, a weight room and a library.“This facility has already proven that it is a great benefit to the seniors and families in our com-munity,” said Jericho Residence Board Member Bobby Henry. “Pastor Peebles worked with all parties to make sure that during the process, the senior center maintained the highest level of service. Because of such leadership, Jericho Residences also maintained high occupancy.”Jericho Residences is valued in excess of $50 Million, exceeding the budgets of all other City of Praise properties and the budgets of most churches in the Washington, DC metro area.

The approach of spring inevitably reminds us of the hope that comes from new beginnings. At The City of Praise, we are embarking on an incredible journey that will take our ministry to wonderful new heights.

Over the last months, we have already seen hundreds of people coming into relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ. They are coming to know the Lord because you are fulfilling your Christ given call to reach others. From the virtual outreach of social media to the real and hands on outreach offered by Project Life Givers, The Mass Choir, The Prison Ministry and the many other ministries of our church, people are being saved.

My hope is that if you are not involved in a ministry at The City of Praise, you will take the initiative to seek out where your gifts can be best used. Contact the ministry leader today. Over 40 years ago, my Dad and Mom had a vision to reach the Washington, DC area with the real message of God’s grace. Together, we will take that vision to the next level and reach the World with the message of God’s grace.

The Sky is the LimitWhen every member of our church family is engaged,

we can reach amazing heights.
