Coach H. K. Grantham is the oldest member of the faculty from the standpoint ofservice. Coach was Physical Ed. director at Hall-Moody and was retained as direc-tor of Physical Education at the new University of Tennessee Junior College. As aphysical education director, he has been liked by all; as a football coach he has beenhonored, respected and loved by every"player. He always impressed 011 every player'smind that it wasn't the score he made but how he made it. He said, "The steam thatblows the whistle never turns a wheel."
Frank Taylor has played football at the U. T. J. c. three years, and the athleticdepartment thought so much of him and his football knowledge that they asked himto come back this, his fourth year as assistant football coach. Frank knew the type offootball Coach Grantham wanted and had proven for three consecutive years that hecould demonstrate that type, especially to the back field. Although he seemed justlike another aile of the boys to the squad, every member respected and co-operated withhim completely. He helped the boys in the dormitory train by tucking them into bedevery night 011 time.
Richard Barton. "Tootle" played football last year and learned so much footballthat they made him football manager this year. He lined off fields, cleaned off equip-ment and took orders from everybody without complaining. He proved to be a veryefficient manager and always did his best to assist the players as much as possible.

Baskeebal]The U. T. Junior College Basketball Boys started the season off by
taking a good, long journey to Carbondale for two practice games.
They started their list of conference games by losing to a fast teamfrom Freed-Hardeman.
Next, they took a week-end trip to Caruthersville and Memphis. On Thursday night, they played the Caruthersville Junior College;and although the Junior Vols were leading the scoring at the end ofthe first half, they were behind at the end of the game. Captain Shortwas forced out of the game on account of an injured foot. ......---,.
Lamhurh, unlike the others, proved to be a victim instead of a victor.Lambu th played a fast offensive game, but went down before the on-slaught of the Junior Vols.
\Vhen Bethel came over, the 'Tennessee Juniors were hillldic, lpped hythe loss of three regulars, ShoJ1., Clift, and ~radford, all account ofinjuries. Regardless of this handicap, the remaining regulars, withthe assistance of some fast subs, out-played the visitors and won the
game.
This was the last team played at this writing, but we hope theJunior Vols continue to play the same type of basketball the rest ofthe season that they have in the last three games. In spite of the factthat they lost the last Caruthersville game, the J unior Tennesseansplayed splendid football.

Incrarnurals
Intramural sports at the University of Tennessee Junior Collegemean-athletic contest between classes. These classes arc the Fresh-men and the Sophomores, both boys and girls. Since the Junior Col-lege girls are 110t allowed to participate in intercollegiate athletics, theintramural contests were planned as a substitute: allowing 1110rc studentsto participate than intercollegiate athletics would.
Miss Mabry, the girls' Physical Education Director, has charge ofintramurals, and starts activities almost as SOOIl as the school year opensin September. The contests, starting in September and spreading ourall through the year, until school closes in May, arc: tennis, soccer, speedball, hockey, basketball, volley ball, foul pitching, swimming, relaysand dashes and playground ball.
The tennis score is totaled by counting the number of games Wall, hut a system of points is used in the other contests. The winners of acontest are given 5 points and the losers 3 points. At the end of th~year, the class having the most points is awarded a silver loving cup.
