Copyright is a legal concept, enacted bymost governments, giving the creator of anoriginal work exclusive rights to it, usually for a limited time. Generally, it is "the right to

copy", but also gives the copyright holder theright to be credited for the work, to determinewho may adapt the work to other forms, whomay perform the work, who may financially

benefit from it, and other related rights. It is aform of intellectual property applicable to anyexpressible form of an idea or information thatis substantive and discrete

 A copyright is a legal device that gives thecreator of a literary, artistic, musical, or other creative work the sole right to publish and sellthat work. Copyright owners have the right tocontrol the reproduction of their work,including the right to receive payment for thatreproduction. An author may grant or sellthose rights to others, including publishers or recording companies. Violation of a copyrightis called infringement.

Some works are not copyrightable because they are notfixed in a tangible medium. These include unrecorded

dance choreography, and unrecorded speeches,lectures, and other vocal performances. Althoughtypefaces are tangible, they traditionally have beenregarded as lying outside of copyright protection. Adramatic character is not copyrightable.

Moral rights – allow author to take

certain actions to preserve personallink between himself and his creation.

1. The right to claim authorship of a workto have that authorship recognized.

2. The right to oppose changes to it thatcould harm the creator’s reputation. 

Moral rights can never be transferred.
