In fresh water piping system using unlined galvanized steel pipes,discolored water and flow rate reduction caused by nodal rust insidethe pipe are serious problems.To cope with these problems uPVC lined steel pipe and PE powderlined steel pipe were developed.To solve the problems at the joint where bare surfaces of the pipeend and of the fitting thread were exposed core fittings were proposed.After years of research on these problems JFE PF （JFE Pipe Fitting Mfg.CO.,Ltd.） has developed a high reliable core which featuresdouble sealing of water by both lips and built-in O-ring.This double sealing offers perfect suppress of the water movement atthe joint and prevents the corrosion.

Excellent corrosion resistance for both uPVC lined steel pipes and PE powder lined steel pipes is achieved by the double seal construction of the core consisting of lips and O-ring. Variances in the inside diameter of the pipes are accommodated by the specially designed lips and O-ring on the core which from tight sealing to suppress water movement and prevent corrosion.

The shape of top end of the core is carefully designed to prevent damaging by pipe end at the jointing. Also the thread length of the fittings is long enough to avoid the pipe end hitting the core end.

As dimensions of the core are strictly designed for both uPVC lined steel pipes and PE powder lined steel pipes,the pipes are easily and smoothly joined to the fittings.

In addition to malleable cast iron core fittings,bronze core fittings and insulation core fittings are also available to cope with the various applications.

Examples of Connection to Equipments

■Bronze Faucet Fittings for the connection to Faucet

Connect the fitting end with core to the pipe and the fitting end without core to faucet.

■Bronze Adaptor Fittings for the connection to PVC pipe

Apply valve socket to PVC pipe and the socket shall be joined to the bronze adaptor socket.

■Bronze Adaptor Fittings for the connection to Equipments

Both male type and female type bronze adaptor fittings are available for meter, valve, strainer,etc.●Connection to male threadUse adaptor elbow or adaptor socket.●Connection to female threadUse adaptor male and female socket.

Following figures are examples of the connection to equipments. Both Bronze core fittings and lnsulation core fittings are applicable to the connections.

Installation Procedure of C-CORE

1. Cutting

●Cut the pipe perpendicularly to the pipe axis.●Use automatic circular saw or band saw.Note: Gas cutting, arc cutting, and cutting with a pipe cutter or high-speed abrasive cut off machine will damage will damage the pipe.

2. Chamfering

●Lightly chamfer the inner edge of the pipe with a scraper of other chamfering tools to remove burrs.

3. Threading

●Cut the pipe thread within the BSI or JIS tol-erance.●Automatic round off die-head（Self opening die-head or profiling die-head）shall be used.Note: Threads too small diameter to meet the specification may cause damaging the core.

4. Sealing compound

●The thread shall be degreased using water （for water soluble oi l） or solvent （for insoluble oil）.●Apply anticorrosion sealant unifomly to the pipe end and the thread of the pipe.

5. Joining

●After the fitting is hand tightened onto the pipe, tighten the fittings in accordance with“Control of Tightening” on page 9.

6. Repair of surface

●Tool mark, scratch and other surface imper-fections created during jointing works shall be repaired using the sealant to prevent rusting.

4. Mounting of rubber ring

●After cleaning of the thread mount a rubber ring on the end of the pipe thread.Note: Caulking tape may be used instead of the rubber ring.

6. Soap-and-water solution

●Apply soap-and-water solution to the sleeve of the fitting or the rubber ring for the smooth joining.

7. Joining

As same as C-CORENote: The special-purpose pipe wrench for exter-nally lined pipes should be used for tightening.

●The core fitting should be used only for fresh water supply. The fittings should not be used for carrying hot water, chemicals, or oils including petroleum.●The core fittings will be deformed by heat or welding, etc. Intense heat（e.g from torch lamp or open fire）should never be brought near the fittings.●Where practical, the core fittings should be stored indoors. If outdoor storage is necessary, the carton lid should be put on and the carton should be covered to protect the fittings from rain and direct sunlight.●Thawing in cold climate should be done with electric or steam thawing machine or hot water. Open fire or flame should not be used.
