suggests suppression only.2 In the Corn-Growing Area, Genuity® SmartStax® RIB Complete™ and Genuity® VT Double PRO® RIB Complete™ have no requirements for a separate structured refuge.
However, in the Cotton-Growing Area, this product requires the planting of an additional 20% structured refuge.
Channel now offers a line-up of Channel® brand Genuity® RIB Complete™ seed corn blends that eliminate the need to plant a separate, structured refuge. Your Channel Seedsman can help you decide the best option for your fields.

Common Refuge: A common refuge is a single field that serves as a refuge for both above-ground pests (e.g. corn borer) and below ground pests (e.g. corn rootworm) at the same time. The refuge can be within the B.t. field or immediately adjacent to it.
Separate Refuge: A separate refuge is an option that requires two fields—one field which is adjacent to or within your B.t. field that serves as a refuge for below-ground pests (e.g. corn rootworm) and a separate field (up to 1/2 mile away) that serves as a refuge for above-ground pests (e.g. corn borer).

Several options/configurations not shown. Refuge configuration options represent percent requirement for the corn-growing areas. The percentage may be different for Cotton-Growing Areas.
This chart provided as a summary only. Growers must read the IRM Grower Guide prior to planting.
An Insect Resistance Management (IRM) plan is mandated by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) when purchasing and planting all seed with insect-protected traits. Failure to comply may result in loss of access to the technology. Compliance means correctly meeting all refuge requirements, which vary by product and region.

Very strong performance potential across yield environments with strong roots and drought tolerance
•Broadly adapted west to east in the 110-115 RM zones; good western adaptation
•Best performance on soybean/corn rotation; handles low populations well, but biggest yield potential at 25,000 and higher
•Timely harvest needed under stressful conditions

Notes: Notes:
“ Recently, I was able to do side-by-
side comparisons to see that Channel
was the best performer, not only with
good disease resistance, but also with
standability and yield. I plant
continuous corn and look to my
Seedsman for guidance with the new
products. He comes out to walk the fields with me and
address any issues I’m having. He has always given good
advice and I appreciate his input and experience.” - Duane VanWyk, Mitchellville, IA
