Members!!

Bob Cram not only got a

Hole-in-One on April 19

while playing with Frank

Haig, Gary Alexander, and

Andrew Baker, he birdied

the 13th, 14th, and 15th

holes, and then got his

Hole! It was 120 yards,

and he hit it with his 9

playing golf, this was his

first time he was ever 5

tive holes. This was Bob’s

third Hole-in-One, but his first ever at Twin Lakes! Very well

done, Bob!

And what a good day

April 20 was when JD

Fleck, who was playing

with Rob Malinzak,

aced Hole number 16!

Congrats to you, JD!

Congratulations to our

Coronavirus Hole-in-

One winners! Even

with the restrictions we

had, golfers were still

able to come out and

From the Manager

T his spring’s weather has been great for golfing and the

course has seen an increase in players. That has to

lead to many ballmarks that have not been fixed.

Every member should certainly fix their own ballmark and

even one more. I played the course recently and saw many

ballmarks that were fixed...but way more that were not re-

paired. Please take ownership of your course and fix ball-

marks, replace divots, and be careful of cart traffic for you and

every other member. Everyone benefits from the 20 seconds it

takes versus the two weeks it will take to completely heal.

Thanks again for your help.

The course will be closed all day on May 26 as the greens

will be deep tined aerified and topdressed. The process will

help with drainage and will create sand channels for the roots

to find and grow deeper along with air exchange on the greens.

See you on the course,

Your superintendent,

I hope this newsletter reaches you in good health and spir-

its. The weather this spring has been dryer than most and

temperatures are very inconsistent. It has been nice to

see so many members out using the club on nice days. Please

remember to keep social distancing on the golf course.

Please remember that our dress code is in effect for mem-

bers and guests. Please remind your guests of the dress code

before they arrive at the club. Denim is allowed in the club-

house; however, denim is not permitted on the practice areas

or on the golf course. Jim always has a wide variety of the

newest golf apparel available in the golf shop.

We have been doing “to go” food and beverages out the

back of the clubhouse until the city of Carmel allows us to

open the clubhouse. Please remember that it is against the

state law to bring your own alcoholic beverages to the club.

We have everything you need at the bar. We will continue to

update you as we receive updated mandates from the city of

Carmel. I greatly appreciate everyone’s patience and coop-

eration during these unchartered times.

Welcome to all the new members and a big thanks to their

sponsors! Please remember to pass along our membership

info to any potential members. If you have a potential mem-

ber, please let me know and I will be happy to contact them. I

am looking forward to a great May at Twin Lakes. I hope all

the mothers had a happy and healthy Mother’s Day!

From the Pro

Golf Shop News... Can I Post Scores During This Time? Over the last couple weeks the question...”should I be post-

ing my scores during these abnormal conditions” has come

up more frequently. The USGA has weighed in on several

aspects of the game that have needed to be temporary

changed during this pandemic outbreak. Most of the tempo-

rary provisions that we have applied are obvious… Changes

to the flagstick, removing bunker rakes, eliminating score-

cards and most obvious, changes made to the cups. In a press

release on Saturday, March 21, the USGA temporarily modi-

fied the rules of golf to allow new definitions of a “ball being

holed”. I have purposely avoided the subject of posting

scores in the hope that the Covid-19 playing conditions

would be temporary. As time passed it’s become obvious

that it’s more likely we will be playing under these abnormal

conditions most of the summer. So, we are now encourag-

ing posting scores played under coronavirus altered cup/

playing and it conditions and all other playing conditions.

Let’s get it on!!!! We are very close to publicizing a revised 2020 Ladies/

Men’s tournament golf schedule. For the foreseeable future

all of our events both men and women will be tee time tour-

naments. Shotgun events will not be allowed. Modifications

will be made to formats in order to comply with all COVID-

19 protocols. Once we receive clearance from government

officials we will post the new events calendar.

Thank you Twin Lakes!

Over the last six weeks I’ve had a blast putting together You-

Tube content for our question and answer HOME QUAR-

ANTINE VIDEO SERIES. The amount of positive feedback

that we have received has been overwhelming. It’s great to

hear the members of Twin Lakes have gained benefit as a

result of the videos. As the weather has improved and

rounds have increased it’s been a bit more difficult finding

time to produce videos, however I will continue to put videos

together so please continue to send me your questions-

throughout the golf season.
