Karanja KabageGroup Chairman

Mr. Kabage is the Group Chairman of Pacific Insurance Brokers (EA) Ltd and First Reinsurance Brokers Ltd (FirstRe).

He is a veteran of the insurance industry where he has held key positions in the industry related Associations. Mr. Kabage was Chairman - Association of Insurance Brokers of Kenya (AIBK) for an unprecedented four (4) years period prior to which he served as Secretary of Insurance Institute of Kenya (IIK) for two years. Between February 1999 and May 2002, he was the Chairman of the Communication Commission of Kenya, the body charged with the mandate to liberalise the airwaves and communication sector in Kenya.

Until November 2007, Mr. Kabage has served in the Chairmanship capacities of three key private sectors; Federation of Kenya Employers (FKE), Kenya Private Sector Alliance (KEPSA) and Kenya Business Council (KBC). He has served as Commissioner with Energy Regulatory Commission (ERC) which is responsible for Electricity, Petroleum and Renewable energy and has been a member of the Kenya Nuclear Electricity Board. On June 19, 2014 during the Annual Ordinary Meeting of the General Assembly of Africa Reinsurance Corporation (Africa Re), he was elected a Director for 3 years.

Mr. Kabage holds a BSc and an MBA in Business Administration from the United States International University (USIU) and Bachelor of Laws - LLB (Hons) and Master of Laws - LLM degree from the University of Nairobi (UoN). He holds a Diploma from the Kenya School of Law (KSL) and is an Advocate of the High Court of Kenya. He is also a member of the Law Society of Kenya (LSK), East African Law Society (EALS), International Bar Association (IBA) and Commonwealth Lawyers Association (CLA). In his LLM degree he specialized in International Trade and Investment Law with special emphasis on International Maritime Law. He is a member of Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (MCIArb).

Jacinta KaritaBCom (Hons), MBA, ACII

Group Managing Director

Mrs. Karita has been working for the past 20 years in Pacific Insurance Brokers (EA) Ltd and First Reinsurance Brokers Ltd where she has held various technical and management positions in both insurance and reinsurance broking services. Overall, Mrs. Karita has been in the insurance industry for more than 28 years. Her career started at the Kenya Reinsurance Corporation Ltd where she acquired invaluable skills in both Treaty and Facultative Reinsurance Underwriting. At FirstRe she has been exposed to the broking Profession through training locally and internationally.

Presently, Mrs. Karita is the Group Managing Director of both Pacific and FirstRe. She holds a Bachelor of Commerce Degree (BCom) from Daystar University, a Master Degree in Business Administration (MBA) in Strategic Management from Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (JKUAT).

Mrs. Karita is an Associate of the Chartered Insurance Institute of London (ACII) and has the rare distinction of being the first lady in Kenya to qualify as a Fellow in Reinsurance. She is responsible for the day to day management of the Insurance and Reinsurance Broking operations of the Group.

Mrs Karita is currently serving in IIK as the Examination Secretary and is responsible for the CII exams. She is also a board member of the Association of Insurance Brokers of Kenya (AIBK) and serves in the Technical and Legal Committee.

Jane MwangiBCom, MBA, CPA (K)

Managing Director Pacific Insurance Brokers (EA) Ltd

Jane is the Managing Director for Pacific Insurance Brokers (EA) Ltd. She is a Certified Public Accountant of Kenya CPA(K), a holder of Masters degree in Business Administration (Finance Major) from the University of Nairobi and a Bachelor of Commerce Degree (BCom–Accounting major) from Kenyatta University. She is a member of ICPAK.

During her career, Jane has gained vast experience in the fields of Audit and Accounting both regionally and internationally while working for 3 of the largest accounting firms.

Eng Judy Kibathi BSc (Eng), MSc (CBIS)

Assistant General Manager, Operations

Judy is the Assistant General Manager, Operations. She holds a BSc Engineering degree from Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture & Technology (JKUAT) and Master of Science Degree (MSc-CBIS) in Computer Based Information System from Sunderland University, United Kingdom. She has been with Pacific for a considerable period handling major clients in both Underwriting and Claims.

Kenneth G. MathengeBcom (Hons)

Manager, Medical

Mr. Mathenge is in charge of Medical Business. He is a holder of Bachelor of Commerce (Bcom-Insurance & Risk Management Option), from the Egerton University. He is a member of the Chartered Insurance Institute - London and is currently pursuing ACII.

Mr. Mathenge has experience in both local and international medical insurances.

He is currently pursuing an MBA on Strategic Management.

Agnes MachariaBBA, MBA, ACII, AIIK

Technical Manager

Agnes is in charge of Corporate Department, prior to joining Pacific, she worked in AON Minet where she started her insurance career. Besides insurance brokerage, Agnes has a passion for training having ventured into it quite early while still pursuing her career in insurance. She has over 20 years insurance broking experience.

Agnes holds an MBA and a BBA in Business Administration from Kenya Methodist University. She is an Associate of the Insurance Institute London (ACII) as well as an Associate member of the Insurance Institute of Kenya (AIIK). Agnes serves in the IIK Executive Council and is Convenor, Public Relations Committee.

Lucy Ngugi BSc, MBA, ACII

Managing Director First Reinsurance Brokers Ltd

Mrs. Ngugi is a holder of Bachelor of Science in Business Administration (BSc) and a Masters degree (MBA) in Strategic Management and Entrepreneurship both from United States International University (USIU) – Nairobi. She is an associate of the Chartered Institute of London (ACII) and a Chartered Insurer.

Mrs. Ngugi prior to joining FirstRe worked at Kenya Reinsurance Corporation Ltd for 10 years, where she handled both local and international reinsurance businesses. She has been with FirstRe for a considerable period and has wide exposure on both Treaty and Facultative Reinsurance with extensive training in her field both locally and internationally.

Francis Gakui BCom (Hons) Insurance Option, DPCII

Director, General Business & Claims

Mr. Gakui is a holder of Bachelor of Commerce degree Insurance option (BCom), from the University of Nairobi. He has a diploma from the Chartered Insurance Institute of London (DPCII).

Mr. Gakui prior to joining FirstRe worked at Kenya Reinsurance Corporation Ltd for 8 years, where he handled both local and international reinsurance claims. He has worked in FirstRe at various levels for a considerable period handling Reinsurance Claims and Investigations of both Treaty and Facultative Claims.

Patrick MugoBA (Econ)

Director, Life & International

Mr. Patrick Mugo is a holder of Bachelor of Arts (BA-Economics) from the University of Nairobi. He has a wealth of experience in Life Business having worked in several local Insurance companies among them former Stallion Insurance, Madison Insurance and Heritage Insurance where he worked just before he joined FirstRe.

He has participated in a number of seminars locally and internationally, relating to Life & Pension Business. Mr. Mugo heads the Life Department of First Reinsurance Brokers Ltd.

Currently Mr Mugo is pursuing an MBA in Strategic Management at University of Nairobi.

Eng Martha Maina BSc (Eng)

Deputy Manager, General Business & Claims

Eng. Maina is a Bachelor of Science graduate in Electrical Engineering (BSc-Eng) from Nairobi University. She has over 8 years of experience in Building and Engineering utility services. She worked in the Ministry of Works as an Assistant Engineer as a supervisor of the electrical contractors. Mrs. Maina also worked at the Kenya Power & Lighting Company Ltd as a Central Rift Commercial Engineer in charge of all the operations of the commercial division in the area.

Eng. Maina joined FirstRe in 1998 and has had worldwide experience in international reinsurance broking and administration.

Caesar KagweBCom, CPA(K)

Group Financial Controller

Mr. Kagwe is the Group Financial Controller for Pacific Group of Companies. He is a certified Public Accountant of Kenya CPA(K), a holder of Bachelor of Commerce (Accounting Option) from Daystar University. He is a member of ICPAK.

He has vast knowledge gained in the fields of accounting and finance in Insurance and Reinsurance practice. He is responsible for the Group’s finance, accounting and planning functions.

Catherine Kimata BBA, MBA, Higher Dip-HR

Human Resource & Administration Manager

Catherine is the Human Resource & Administration Manager for Pacific Group of Companies. She is a holder of Master Degree in Business Administration (HR Option), Bachelor Degree in Business Administration (HR Option) from Kenya Methodist University. She is also an Associate of College of Human Resource Management and holds a Higher National Diploma in Human Resource Management from the same Institute.

During her career of 15 years, Catherine has gained vast experience in the fields of Human Resource Management and Administration while working in similar positions for two large institutions in the Hotel and Manufacturing Industry.
