We would like to honor our veterans by flying a flag in their honor or their memory on our flagpole. If you have an American flag at home
that you would like to lend to the parish in memory of or in honor of a loved one, please bring it to the rectory. We will fly it for one month and then return the flag to you. The name of your loved one will appear in the bulletin for the month his or her flag is displayed.
Perpetual Adoration at Corpus Christi
We try to provide an atmosphere of quiet reflection in the Chapel. We invite every-one to pray silently before the Lord in the
Blessed Sacrament when you come for a visit. We thank all Guardians of the Eucharist for their love, fidelity, and commitment to Jesus in the Eucharist. We encourage you to get to know the guardians before and after you. Please try to be on time for your hour. The person before you may have another commitment and is counting on you to be on time.

ECHOING MARY’S DECISION
The angel Gabriel today confronts Mary with a mystery. The mystery of salvation in Christ is not a mystery that is solved, but a reality beyond our com-prehension that we must choose to enter into. In the liturgy of the Eastern Church, everyone waits to see if Mary will enter into the mystery: God waits, Ad-am and Eve and all the souls of the dead who long for paradise wait, angels wait for new heavenly companions. And there is much rejoicing when her decision is “yes.”
We have less dramatic choices offered to us, but the mystery of our salvation in Christ is by no means “solved.” We may understand it a bit better due to Mary’s “yes.” We may be a bit closer to it through the passion, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ. But it still remains a mystery to which we all must give our own “yes.” Soon we will be singing “O come, let us adore him.” May our Advent prayer, our echo of Mary’s “yes,” continue then, so we may enter into the mystery of our salvation in Jesus Christ, God among us.Copyright © J. IMITAR LA DECISIÓN DE MARÍA
Copyright © J. S. Paluch Co.

THE GIFT OF GOD’S WORD
On this day of gifts and gift‑giving, it seems appropriate that we take a moment to reflect on the great gift of God’s Word. Because it is creative, God’s Word always points to its author, always calls us to respond. Because it is powerful, God’s Word can link the sublime with the ridiculous, the transcendent with the immanent, the divine with the human. Because it is graceful, God’s Word es-tablishes a relationship of deep intimacy between us and God.
At the heart of God’s Word lies a tantalizing tension between the mysterious and the mundane. In our liturgical celebration, this unresolved ten-sion both reveals the meaning of life for us and calls us to respond, to act upon that meaning.
Once accepted and opened, the gift of God’s Word is a gift that keeps on giving and keeps on calling us to give in return. It dares us to be like the gift‑giver and to become gifts for others, not only at Christmas, but at every moment of life.
