Christ is present whole and entire in each of the species and whole and entire in each of their parts, in such a way that the breaking of the bread does not divide Christ . (Cf. Council of Trent: DS 1641) In the liturgy of the Mass we express our faith in the real presence of Christ under the species of bread and wine by, among other ways, genuflecting or bowing deeply as a sign of adoration of the Lord. “The Catholic Church has al- ways offered and still offers to the sacrament of the Eucharist the cult of adoration, not only during Mass, but also outside of it, reserving the consecrated hosts with the utmost care, exposing them to the solemn veneration of the faithful, and carrying them in procession.” The tabernacle was first intended for the reservation of the Eucharist in a worthy place so that it could be brought to the sick and those absent outside of Mass. As faith in the real presence of Christ in his Eucharist deepened, the Church became conscious of the meaning of silent adoration of the Lord present under the Eucharistic species. It is for this rea- son that the tabernacle should be located in an especially worthy place in the church and should be constructed in such a way that it emphasizes and manifests the truth of the real presence of Christ in the Blessed Sacrament. It is highly fitting that Christ should have wanted to remain present to his Church in this unique way. Since Christ was about to take his departure from his own in his visible form, he wanted to give us his sacramental presence; since he was about to offer himself on the cross to save us, he wanted us to have the memorial of the love with which he loved us "to the end,” (Jn 13:1) even to the giving of his life. In his Eucharistic presence he remains mysteriously in our midst as the one who loved us and gave himself up for us (Gal 2:20), and he remains under signs that express and communicate this love: “The Church and the world have a great need for Eucharistic worship. Jesus awaits us in this sacrament of love. Let us not refuse the time to go to meet him in adoration, in contemplation full of faith, and open to making amends for the serious offenses and crimes of the world. Let our adoration never cease.” (John Paul II, Dominicae cenae, 3.) "That in this sacrament are the true Body of Christ and his true Blood is something that 'cannot be apprehended by the senses,' says St. Thomas, 'but only by faith, which relies on divine authority.' SACRED HEART SOLEMNITY

Friday, June 12th

Bilingual Mass at 7 pm. Friday night, June 12th at 7 pm, our parish will celebrate a special bilingual Mass for the Solemnity of the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus. While it is not a holy day of obli-gation, all are invited and encouraged to come.

The Aurora Gabriel House is committed to assisting pregnant women and families with small children. If you would like to help, they are in need of baby wipes,

baby lotion, baby shampoo. These can be placed in the brown box by the south entrance door of the Narthex.

GABRIEL HOUSE NEEDS BABY SUPPLIES

For 40 years, the effort to promote the dignity of all hu-man life, and thus bring an end to abortion, has been the principal — if not exclusive — point of conflict with our United States legal system. But now we must add to that the fight to retain the religious freedom guaranteed by our constitution, as well as our struggle to preserve the God-given meaning of marriage as a union between one man and one woman. Never have we seen this degree of hostil-ity between the Catholic Church and our govern-ment….There is nothing more powerful than prayer and fasting in the battle for true justice in our country. It is the hope of the bishops that these efforts will encourage real solidarity among all people who are standing for the pre-cious gifts of life, marriage and religious liberty.

The Most Rev. Michael J. Sheridan, S. Th D., Bishop of Colorado Springs

The 6th Annual St. Pius X Basketball Camp is coming soon. Attention kids entering 3rd to 8th grade. The Bas-ketball Camp will be held in the St. Pius gym the week of June 29 to July 3, 2015. The camp runs from 9 am to 12:30 pm each day with pizza party on final day. Cost is $25 per camper with all proceeds donated to St. Pius X Social Ministry. Each camper gets a sixth edition, signa-ture St. Pius X Basketball Camp T-shirt. The Camp is open to all levels of basketball ex-perience (including no experience). Space is limited and pre-registration is required. Contact Michele Walker at: [email protected] to register.

Our Totus Tuus instructors (two boys/two girls) will come from Catholic colleges outside of Colorado. They will need a place to stay for 6 - 7 nights from July 11th to July 17th (& possibly 18th). The Program keeps costs down by having the instructors stay in the homes of parishioners during their week at each parish. We need two families who are willing to host two of the instructors during their stay at St. Pius which includes providing room and board for that one week. If you can help, please contact the Par-ish Office.

TOTUS TUUS AT ST. PIUS X - July 12-17th Totus Tuus (Latin for Totally Yours), a summer catechetical program for younger kids and teens will be held here from July 12-July 17th. The Grade School kids program (for kids entering 1st - 6th) runs Mon.-Fri. from 9 am. to 2:30 pm. The day will include religious instruction, daily Mass, songs, praise, games and recess. For Middle School kids and High School teens, the Program runs Sun.-Thurs. 7:30 - 9:30 pm. and also combines catechesis with having fun! Totus Tuus is taught by energetic Catholic college students. Registration forms are available through the Parish Office or on line at TotusTuusDenver.org. Cost is still being determined (but plan around $30 per child and $50 per family). Scholarships will be made available to help cover cost. Please register by July 7th.

TOTUS TUUS NEEDS VOLUNTEERS Especially High School Students

A successful Totus Tuus Program requires 5-10 additional volunteers who can help during the week in the classroom helping with religious instruction, performing skits, and managing the kids. This is a great opportunity for high school age kids needing service hours! If you are 18 or over, you can also help, but you will need to have com-pleted the Safe Environment classes and a background check. To volunteer, contact the Parish Office.
