OCTOBER IS THE MONTH OF THE HOLY ROSARY

During the month of October, we celebrate many wonderful things. Among them are the feasts of great saints such as St. Therese of the Child Jesus, St. Francis of Assisi, St. Teresa of Jesus, St. Luke, St. Anthony Mary Claret, and St. Jude Thaddeus.

The Rosary marks our lifestyle that should be that of Christ. The meditative repetition of the life of Christ deepens in us and marks our being and actions as disciples of Christ. In our parish, we will have a special celebration to close the centenary of the apparition of the Virgin in Fatima. As you may know, when the shepherds asked the "Lady" what her name was, she replied: "I am the Lady of the Rosary." The feast of the Virgin of the Rosary was instituted by Pope St. Pius V on October 7, the anniversary of the victory won by the Christians in the Naval Battle of Lepanto (1571), attributed to the Mother of God, invoked by the prayer of the rosary . For us, the celebration of the Holy Rosary is an invitation for all to meditate on the mysteries of Christ in the company of the Virgin Mary, who was associated in a very special way with the incar-nation, the light, the passion and the glory of the resurrection of the Son of God . The Rosary is composed of twenty "mysteries" (events or significant moments) of the life of Jesus and Mary, divided since the publication of the Apostolic Letter Rosarium Virginis Mariae, in four groups. The first "group" includes the joyous mysteries (Monday and Saturday), the Luminous ones (Thursday), the third the sorrowful ones (Tuesday and Friday) and the fourth the glorious ones (Wednesday and Sunday). It would be a good idea to memorize those 20 moments in the life of Our Lord and the Holy Family. We should recover this practice of love in honor of the Mother of God and return personally and as a family to the Rosary.

OCTUBRE ES EL MES DEL SANTO ROSARIO

En el mes de octubre celebramos muchas cosas. Entre ellas las fiestas de grandes santos como Santa Teresita del Niño Jesús, San Francisco de Asís, Santa Teresa de Jesús, San Lucas, San Antonio María Claret, San Judas Tadeo. El Rosario marca nuestro estilo de vida que debe ser el de Cristo. La repetición meditativa de la vida de Cristo va profundizando en nosotros y marcando nuestro ser y obrar de bautizados como discípulos de Cristo. Aquí en nuestra Parroquia tendremos una celebración especial para clausurar el Centenario de la aparición de la Virgen en Fátima. Cuando los pastorcitos le preguntaron a la " Señora" cuál era su nombre, Ella les responde: " Yo soy la Señora del Santo Rosario.". La fiesta de la Virgen del Rosario la instituyó el Papa San Pío V el 7 de Octubre, aniversario de la victoria obtenida por los cristia-nos en la Batalla naval de Lepanto (1571), atribuida a la Madre de Dios, invocada por la oración del rosario. La celebración de este día es una invitación para todos a meditar los misterios de Cristo, en compañía de la Virgen María, que estuvo

asociada de un modo especialísimo a la encarnación, la luz, la pasión y la gloria de la resurrección del Hijo de Dios. El Rosario está compuesto por veinte "misterios" (acontecimientos o momentos significativos) de la vida de Jesús y de María, divididos desde la publicación de la Carta apostólica Rosarium Virginis Mariae, en cuatro grupos. El primer "grupo" comprende los misterios gozosos (lunes y sábado), el segundo los luminosos (jueves), el tercero los dolorosos (martes y viernes) y el cuarto los gloriosos (miércoles y domingo). Sería bueno aprenderse de memoria esos 20 momentos en la vida de Nuestro Señor y de la Sagrada Familia. Debemos recuperar esta práctica de amor a la Madre de Dios y volver de forma personal y como familia al rezo del Rosario. Aquí en nuestra parroquia estaremos rezando el Rosario antes de cada una de las misas.
