There is a much that can keep us away from God.In the gospel this weekend, we see Jesus “cleansing” the temple and for Jesus’ disciples, it was seen as a sign of God’s work to “clean” and “restore” real worship and holiness with His people!Back in the day, temples were the “dwelling place of God’ with His people. We see God telling Moses how to worship Him by making a Tabernacle which became the temple of Jerusalem (Exodus 20). And in the New Testament, this is just an example of God’s true temple, which is in Heaven (Hebrews 8).Likewise, Jesus’ cleansing of the temple is a sign of what He wants to do with all of us – He wants to clean us of sinful and harmful ways so we can be living temples of the Holy Spirit!But Jesus had much backlash from the Jewish authorities, and they wanted proof that He had authority from God, otherwise, they would say He’s a fake!The proof was simple – it was Himself! He is the true Temple that makes us clean and a holy people that can be with God! He would be the sign that would suffer and die on the cross and would rise on the third day!Through Jesus’ death and resurrection, we have been reconciled with God and has made us God’s sons and daughters and fills us with His Holy Spirit so we can be real, living temples of our God!In this season of Lent, may we be aware that Jesus always wants to renew our minds and clean our hearts so we can be holy at all times and change the way we think, act and live as a son or daughter of God!• Pray for Pope Francis and all who lead the Church (especially the
Pope’s visit to Iraq), especially Bishop Brennan.• Pray for those affected by natural disasters and acts of violence
(COVID-19; violence due to racism; Myanmar; Congo; shootings in Central Ohio).
• A reminder that we are still in the Lenten Increased Offertory Program- any new online donation or increased online donation will be matched up to $50,000 towards any of our South End parishes! Details are in the bulletin.
• A reminder to fill out a Disciple Maker Index survey so we can assist with the diocesan Real Presence, Real Future initiative; details are in the bulletin.
• Please register for our participation in the 40 Days of Adoration during Lent sponsored by the diocese. Our date is March 12 – please try to sign up for the evening! Confessions will be provided from 7:00-9:00 p.m.
• Every Wednesday during Lent, we have Adoration/Benediction from 5:30-6:30 p.m. with the Sacrament of Reconciliation being heard at St. Mary’s. Please come and adore the Lord!

Hay mucho que puede alejarnos de Dios.En el evangelio de este fin de semana, vemos a Jesús “limpiando” el templo y para los discípulos de Jesús, fue visto como una señal de la obra de Dios de “limpiar” y “restaurar” la adoración y la santidad reales con Su pueblo.En el pasado, los templos eran la “morada de Dios” con Su pueblo. Vemos a Dios diciéndole a Moisés cómo adorarlo al hacer un Tabernáculo que se convirtió en el templo de Jerusalén (Éxodo 20). Our South End Parishes will be participating in the Diocesan-wide Disciple Maker Index (DMI) Survey between now and March 22. This nationally recognized survey has been administered at parishes around the United States and Canada since 2013. As part of the Diocese of Columbus Real Presence, Real Future planning process, we will participate in this survey during Lent. The results from our parish survey will not only be used for information and planning for our own parish, but will also be included in national results which track trends, growth and Church-related opportunities nationwide. The survey seeks to provide parishioners an opportunity to reflect on their spiritual growth as well as provide parish leadership with invaluable insights regarding a parish’s strengths and opportunities. RESPECT LIFE COMMITTEE/COMITÉ DE RESPETO A LA VIDAThe Parishes of the Catholic Community of South Columbus will be participating in the 40 Days for Life Campaign on Saturday, March 20, 2021. 40 Days for Life is an international campaign directed to ending abortion through prayer, fasting and peaceful vigil’s at abortion facilities in more than 600 cities around the world. This year’s campaign began on February 17 and runs through March 28, 2021.The St. Mary, Corpus Christi, and St. Ladislas Parish vigil will be held on Saturday, March 20, 2021 between the hours of 10:00 a.m.-2:00 p.m. at Planned Parenthood at 3255 E. Main Street. There is ample parking in the lot across the street from Planned Parenthood or on S. Hampton Road just east of the facility. We are asking that a minimum of two volunteers sign up to pray at the clinic for each hour-long shift. A sign-up sheet is located on the 40 Days for Life poster located on the easel in the back of St. Mary Church.
