4.3 Passenger terminal traffic links with city area

Based on key features of considerations involved in this part of presentation, some comments can be pointed out:

•The Port of Bar passenger terminal have significant capacities;

•Coefficient of capacity utilization is low;

•Establishing optimal prerequsites for increasing Terminal utilization requires and improving road connections between Terminal and city area in direction of eliminating identified limitations. for In order to realized mentioned acitivities, exisiting plans shoul be concretized;

From the very beginning, development of The Port of Bar and City of Bar area was conducted in accordance with relevant Urban plans. Plans of port area development were complementary with complete city area development. .

•Railway Bar – Belgrade reconstruction and modernization;

Realization of this project – which will significantly improve connections between The Port of Bar and its hinterland - is in a very close relation with possibilities to increase degree of The Port of Bar installed capacities utilization and will establish initial bases for new port capacities development (based on increased intensity of customers demands). As well, it will enable better utilization of wider area potentials through: optimizing connections between The Port of Bar and transeuropean corridor «X», improving connections between South Italy regions and the Temisoara region (Romania) etc.

•Highway Bar – Belgrade;

All remarks pointed out previously (referred on railway Bar – Belgrade) are valid and in this case.

 

•Tunnel through Sozina mountain building;

By building this tunnel (complete finishing is expected for the middle of this year) and avoiding a mountainous area, road connections between The Port of Bar and the Central part of Montenegro will be optimized.

 

•Adriatic Ionian highway;

7. Conclusion Done very condensed analyses of some aspects of correlation between port and city development

confirm that influence of city development on port and vice versa is very intensive.  Optimization of relation between port passanger terminal and city area, especially because increasing

of coefficient of terminal capacities utilization is expected, require relization of existing plans for eliminating identified limitations.

 From the very beginning plans of port development were complementary with city development

plans. Projects of regional infrastructure development, which take places, and whose realization is expected

in a near future, will have positive effects on intensity of port acitivities and will fullfil some basic prerequsites for further port development.
