Welcome to Corrosion Technology Week 2016

Exchanging technical information and staying ahead of the latest trends and research is vital to maintaining a competitive edge in any industry. Corrosion Technology Week (CTW) provides a setting for dedicated experts to gather from around the world to discuss recent implementations of research, develop globally recognized standards, and plan future goals for their committees.

NACE International’s Technical Coordination Committee sponsors the weeklong conference that has been dubbed as an annual “work week” by committee members and volunteers who use the event as an opportunity to share information, technology, and solutions to corrosion challenges encountered around the world.

Dear Fellow NACE Members and Friends:

On behalf of the NACE Technical Coordination Committee

(TCC) it is my pleasure to welcome you to NACE International’s Corrosion Technology Week 2016! This year CTW will be held at the Royal Sonesta Houston Galleria in “Space City” Houston, Texas, a short walk to The Galleria upscale shopping mall with 375 stores, 30 restaurants, and a full-sized ice rink. Other Houston attractions include the Houston Zoo, the Museum District with 18 museums, the more than 11,000 restaurants, and a Theater District second only to New York in seats. Home to more than 5,000 energy related firms, Houston is called the Energy Capital of the world. Houston’s three-airport system serves more than 53 million passengers in 2014, including 10 million international travelers. The benefits of attending NACE’s CTW include 150+ technical committee meetings to develop standards and committee reports, exchange technical information, interface with other industry organizations such as API, ASTM, IEEE, ISO, SSPC, and others, present forums on hot topics and current events, and in addition there will be dozens of exhibitors, a plethora of networking opportunities, and more. If you’re a first-time attendee, see NACE’s Committees Web page to join a technical committee and resources for committee members. NACE is a volunteer organization and we appreciate and value the contributions of your time and participation in technical standards development. A special acknowledgement goes to our sponsors and exhibitors who help make this event possible. Please take the time to meet with them at the Opening Reception on Monday as well as at the Exhibitor Reception on Tuesday where they will be showcasing their products and services. We look forward to seeing you in Houston!

NACE technical committee work has produced direct rewards for me and my career as well as for my employer. Participating has improved my skills in working collaboratively, writing clear technical standards, resolving conflicts in a positive manner, and leading and administrating groups. It keeps me abreast of the latest technologies and industry best practices and allows me to network with my industry peers.—Drew Hevle, TCC Vice Chair
