    Know your COSEC DOOR

The COSEC DOOR can be configured as a PANEL DOOR or

DIRECT DOOR and are designed to control a single Door. The

PANEL DOOR, as the name suggests connects to the COSECPANEL which in turn connects to the COSEC Monitor

    application.

PANEL DOORs depend on the PANEL for configuration while

DIRECT DOORs are configured directly from the COSEC

application platform. The COSEC DIRECT DOOR configuration

has limited functionalities compared to the PANEL DOOR

configuration as explained in the COSEC System manual.

The COSEC PANEL DOOR Controller supports the followingoptions:

1 Ethernet and RS485 communication port

    LCD Display1

4 LEDs. (Status, Alarm, Allow, Deny)

    2 Internal Readers

    1 External Reader port

    1 Door Relay

1 Aux input and output ports

    Touch sense Keypad1

Door Sense and Exit Switch Inputs.

The COSEC DIRECT DOOR connects directly to the COSEC

    Monitor application.

The COSEC DIRECT DOOR Controller supports the following

    options:

1 Variants available without these options.

The user can now edit the Ethernet or wireless IP settings

based on the communication type being used by the DOOR

in the right pane of the web page.

Connect ing the COSEC DIRECT DOOR to the

Monitoring PCConnect your computer's Ethernet port and the DOOR's

Ethernet Port by using either of two below mentioned

    methods.

    1. Connect both the computer's and the DOOR's Ethernet

port to an Ethernet hub with standard straight-through

    Ethernet patch cables as shown.

The DIRECT DOOR communicates with the COSEC Monitor

application over the TCP/IP network. The PANEL DOOR

Controller communicates with PANEL in either of the following

    two ways:

    1. Serial port communication using the RS 485 interface.

    2. Ethernet based packet communication using the LANinterface.

Though the PANEL DOOR Controller supports both RS 485 and

Ethernet communication ports, only one of the two interfaces

    can be activated through configuration.

The Ethernet port uses standard IP address scheme to identify

the Controller and they can be changed depending on the site

    requirement.

The RS 485 address on the PANEL DOOR is set using the 5

DIP switches located at the rear of the DOOR enclosure and

they support address range of 00 to 31. On the other hand, the

DIP switches on the DIRECT DOORs are used to default the

various settings on the DIRECT DOOR as explained in the

    COSEC System manual.

The COSEC Access control system is designed to support up to

32 COSEC PANEL DOORs using RS485 communication underone PANEL and 75 PANEL DOORs with Ethernet interface.

However, the system supports a total of 75 PANEL DOORs in a

    heterogeneous network under one PANEL.

Mounting and Wiring the COSEC DOOR

    Before installing the COSEC DOOR:

The COSEC DOOR has been designed to be mounted on a wall

in a single box without any additional enclosure.

In the event of the MATRIX COSEC RF module also being

included in the ordered items, the module needs to be

mounted on the COSEC DOOR prior to starting the wall

    mounting procedure as shown.

    Step 3:Power Supply

There are three options for providing the 12VDC @ 1 amppower input to the COSEC DOOR Controller.

A 2 conductor cable can be drawn from the terminals on

the Power supply unit of the COSEC PANEL. These can

be connected to terminals 39 & 40 of the terminal strip on

the COSEC DOOR Controller. Up to 4 COSEC DOORs

    can be powered this way.

Place the threaded screw M 3x6 as provided in the

package in this slot and tighten the same to fix the Door

Controller unit to the mounting plate.

Step 9:Powering up the Door Controller

Once all the connections are checked, power up the Door

Controller which in turn will go through the booting process.

The LCD display will first display the Matrix logo followed by

the firmware version, RS485 address of the controller as set

on the dip switch and the MAC address of the door controller

for a few seconds. Make a note of this address as it will be

used in the COSEC application in the event of an Ethernet

    network.

Power up all the DOOR Controllers once after they have

been defined and configured in the COSEC application as

described in the COSEC System manual. Also ensure that

the PANELS if any on the network are also powered up

prior to powering up the DOOR Controllers. This is to

ensure that the PANEL can start downloading the PANEL

DOOR firmware to all DOORs on the network which have

been configured as PANEL DOORs as this operation only

when the DOORs are in the reboot process.

Setting the IP address of the DIRECT DOOR:

The DIRECT DOORs come preconfigured with a default IP

address. The System Engineer would need to connect the

DIRECT DOORs one at a time on the network and configure

their IP address as explained in this section. There are two

ways to configure the IP settings of the DIRECT DOOR. From

    the:
