COSME Programme Competitiveness of Enterprises and SMEs

COSME is the EU programme for the Competitiveness of Enterprises and SMEs, running from 2014 to 2020, with a budget of €2.3 billion.
COSME will support SMEs in the following areas:
Facilitating access to finance
Supporting internationalisation and access to markets
Creating an environment favourable to competitiveness
Encouraging an entrepreneurial culture

The third specific objective of COSME is “to improve framework conditions for the
competitiveness and sustainability of SMEs
In 2015, there will be up to 14 actions to be financed under this specific objective with a
budget of more than EUR34 million.

The call for design-based consumer goods (WORTH) aims to:
shorten the time-to-market of innovative solutions,
remove obstacles to wider application of creative solutions,
create or enlarge markets for related products (or services) and
improve the competitiveness of European SMEs in world markets.
KEY potential to replicate the innovations not only in participating SMEs but also across the supply-chain while generating important spill-overs.

Design-based consumer goods SMEs are diverse.
They include value chains composed of design, product development, manufacturing and distribution operations of various sectors,
including for example textiles, clothing, leather and fur products, footwear, bags and accessories, sports goods, games and toys, interior home decoration products (e.g. furniture, sanitary products, floor, wall and window coverings, table and kitchen ware, glassware), spectacles, watches, jewellery, various cosmetic and beauty products, etc.
