Registration Info (cont.)

Registration for 2022 will be the only option shown to registrants; myscouts will “know” if we can offer the fall session.

For example:

There are 6 Beavers already registered in Stegosaurus Colony. There is room to take a total of 24 this fall; the group plans to take 24 for January 2022-December 2022.

So, myscouts would allow the first 18 registrants to join for the fall session.

Scouts is Needed Now more than Ever

Why Scouting Why Now?

• Recognise there is still some vaccine hesitancy as well as school return and gathering anxiety-especially for unvaccinated kids under the age of 12

• Scouting has operated throughout the pandemic –safely – with no outbreaks recorded

• Simone Biles and other Olympians have again brought to light the importance of mental as well as physical health. Mental health concerns and case numbers have risen – kids need to play, to get outside, to experience nature, friends and to return to normal

• We have proven we can do it well and safely – kids having fun doing what they want to do

Getting Back to School (& Scouting)

Key takeaways from Ontario's back-to-school plan:

• Staff and teachers will not be required to take COVID-19 vaccines.

• Students from Grade 1 to 12 are required to wear masks indoors (with exceptions such as low-contact physical activity and during eating).

• Staff and students must screen themselves every day using the tool provided by the province.

• Anyone experiencing symptoms per the provincial screening tool should not attend school.

• School boards are expected to have all ventilation systems inspected and in good condition before the start of school year.

Slido Q and A

Q: Covid screening for each participant and volunteer for every meeting. Is this the requirement?

Page 27: Council Service Team Meeting August 14

27

It Starts with Scouts.

Slido Q and A

A: “Scouts Canada has modified a set of questions that are used in provincial guidance for Scouters to use and developed a standard screening checklist that will be made available. No temperature checks or physical checks are required. No paper copy or digital record of the participant self-assessment is required. A question is included in the attendance checklist to confirm this has been completed. Only a confirmation checkmark on the attendance record is required for the Scouter in Charge’s records”

Slido Q and A

Q: regarding tents and camping – one person to one tent or has this changed?

A: Sharing of tents is permitted within patrols, providing patrols maintain separation (minimum of 2m) from other patrols for the duration of the activity – note, this is only during Stage 4.

See Stage 4 Pandemic Standard for more details.

Slido Q and A

Q: When will scouter and youth registration become unified (happen at the same time?)

A: We don’t know! But this is a great question and we will follow up

Q: Regarding Beaver Scouts turning 5 in 2022:

There will be an exception process available to GCs, but we are not sure how this works yet. We will keep you informed.
